In the upcoming academic year, over 795 thousand children in Uzbekistan will attend classrooms for the first time. Each of them is entitled to a special 'Presidential Gift'—a set containing twelve different school supplies.
The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has begun delivering these 'Presidential Gifts' to incoming first-graders across the country. According to the schedule, all kits must arrive at regional centers by August 15th and then be distributed to schools by August 25th.
The kit includes a range of necessary items for starting education, including a backpack, notebooks, pens, pencils, paints, an album, plasticine, and other basic necessities required during the first months of study.
Planning Enrollment in First Grade
For the 2026/2027 academic year, enrollment of over 795 thousand children in first grades is planned. As of August 5th, about 680 thousand future schoolchildren have been enrolled, which accounts for 85 percent of the total planned number.
Recipients of the gifts will not only be students of state schools but also first-graders from non-state educational institutions, as well as children from schools under the jurisdiction of other ministries and departments. To ensure this, the ministry has compiled lists of children in advance using an electronic platform.
The presentation of the 'Presidential Gifts' to first-graders will take place in a solemn ceremony immediately after the first bell rings.
General Education Statistics
Overall, in the new academic year, more than 6.7 million children will study in the country's schools across 10.2 thousand educational institutions. The education of these children will be provided by over 550 thousand teachers.
It is also recalled that the process of applying for first grade for the 2026/2027 academic year is conducted through the electronic platform my.maktab.uz. Previously, until July 31st, applications were accepted exclusively at schools located at the child's place of residence; however, from August 1st to August 31st, parents have the option to submit documents to educational institutions outside their microdistrict.
