During the summer, 'Travels in China' attracts attention from people all over the world due to various travel formats, including cultural tours, shopping, and nature recreation. According to a global online survey conducted by CGTN, 92.9% of respondents noted that the surge in interest in traveling to China reflects a rapidly growing international interest in the country.
Foreign tourists actively include picturesque natural landscapes and famous landmarks, as well as cultural elements such as Hanfu, Qipao, and trendy tea drinks, in their wish lists.
When survey participants were asked about the most attractive type of tourist experience in China, more than half (54.7%) expressed interest in historical and cultural sites like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China. Natural landscapes, unique cultural experiences, and modern urban life ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively.
Regarding Chinese cuisine, 55.5% of respondents stated the greatest interest in traditional Chinese dishes, while internet-famous signature products, modern tea drinks, and regional delicacies entered the top four. Among the goods tourists would like to purchase in China, technical products and smart gadgets showed the highest demand (48.3%). More than 23% chose Chinese cultural and creative goods with unique characteristics, 18.7% preferred delicacies and snacks, and 9.6% were interested in traditional Chinese clothing and fashion.
According to the National Immigration Administration, China welcomed 22.9 million foreign tourists in the first half of this year, which is 20.4% more than last year, maintaining a strong growth momentum. In this survey, 92.8% of respondents reported that social media content about travel in China constantly strengthens their desire to learn about and visit the country. Furthermore, 87% believe that personally visiting China helps gain a deeper and more authentic understanding of Chinese culture, society, and current level of development.
It is worth noting that in the first half of the year, 17.8 million entries by foreign nationals were made under China's visa-free programs, representing a year-on-year increase of 30.6%. A series of measures aimed at simplifying entry is attracting more foreign visitors.
The study also showed that 92.2% of respondents believe that convenient services, such as mobile payments, high-speed railways, and shared transportation, are becoming an important part of the tourist experience in China. Over 90% of respondents are confident that China's continuous efforts to optimize visa policy and simplify entry procedures have effectively increased the willingness of international travelers to visit the country. Moreover, 79.6% hope to receive information about travel in China, learn about popular places, and explore the tourist experience through locally developed mobile applications.
