Josh Butler, a star batter and wicketkeeper for Manchester Super Giants, has set an unprecedented record in T20 cricket history, becoming the most successful player in this format. He surpassed the West Indies record holder Kieron Pollard.
This historic moment occurred during a match played in Manchester on Wednesday, August 5th. Butler achieved this feat early on, scoring his first six off Marco Jansen. This shot allowed him to overtake Pollard's tally of 14,803 T20 runs. Following this, he continued his celebration by hitting two more sixes. In total, Butler hit six sixes and reached a half-century in just 20 balls.
In this contest, Manchester Super Giants defeated Welsh Fire by 9 wickets, ending a streak of three consecutive losses. The team easily scored 156 runs. Tim Siefert remained on the field with 62 runs unbeaten, while Butler himself batted until the end, scoring 51 runs. Paul Wolter also delivered a strong performance, earning 37 runs.
Thanks to this victory, the average score for Super Giants improved, and the team climbed to third place in the standings.
