An independent audit conducted by SaferAI revealed that the Zhipu GLM-5.2 model possesses cyberattack capabilities comparable to GPT-5.5, yet the model completely lacks content filtering mechanisms, indicating structural risks for open-weight releases.
As Chinese models, such as Zhipu's GLM series and Moonshot's Kimi, narrow the gap in capabilities with advanced Western systems, the disparity in security mechanisms has significantly widened. The European non-profit organization SaferAI released an independent risk report on the Zhipu GLM-5.2 model. Testing was conducted without coordination with Zhipu and compared against Claude Opus 4.7 and GPT-5.5 across four categories of systemic risks defined by the EU General Purpose AI Code of Practice.
In the areas of cyberattacks and bioscience, GLM-5.2 lags behind GPT-5.5 by only two to four months. However, the difference in security aspects proved to be quite substantial. Across six subdomains, including cryptography, web application exploitation, Pwn, and reverse engineering, GLM-5.2 demonstrated parity with closed models in deep red zones, achieving a 100% pass rate in some areas, while completely lacking content filtering defenses. The model showed no refusal when tested on behavioral aspects related to ransomware, malicious persuasion, or pressure for falsehoods.
When using the CyBench benchmark in CTF format, GLM-5.2 successfully completed 29 out of 34 tasks, matching Claude Opus 4.7 and falling short of GPT-5.5, which handled 31 tasks. Furthermore, GLM-5.2 completed every step without triggering any safety warnings, whereas Claude and GPT initiated filtering requests at key stages. On the CyberGym platform, which simulates real-world vulnerability detection, GLM-5.2 reproduced only a small fraction of vulnerabilities with an inference budget of 2 million tokens, but achieved a 76% reproduction rate with 50 million tokens, approaching GPT-5.5's 88.1%.
The UK AI Safety Institute previously asserted that a model's cyber risk is not a fixed metric but depends on computation and inference time, and the SaferAI data confirms this. The structural problem lies in the open-weight release. Once the weights leave the official API, developers can completely remove content filters and account-level checks, depriving the original laboratory of the ability to ensure protection. TechCrunch reports that this issue is not unique to Zhipu but reflects the entire ecosystem of open-source Chinese LLMs. As one Chinese commentator noted, the open possibilities for attackers have reached the threshold of advanced systems, and it is the security gap, not the capability gap, that will define the next regulatory crisis.

SpaceX announced plans to increase the volume of cargo delivered to orbit using the Starship space system to 10 million tons per year. This was reported by company CEO Elon Musk during another quarterly financial report.
According to the billionaire, the Falcon rocket currently launches about 2,500 tons of cargo into orbit annually. Meanwhile, the combined figure of all other competitors worldwide is approximately 300 tons, which means that 80-90 percent of all cargo sent from Earth into space belongs to SpaceX.
The entrepreneur specified that thanks to the Starship project, this figure will first exceed 1 million tons per year and then reach the planned mark of 10 million tons.
During a test flight conducted on July 13th, the spacecraft successfully deployed 20 Starlink V3 satellites without payload and landed in the Indian Ocean.
