The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) initiated an official investigation following alarming reports published by the BBC. These reports indicated a link between advertising on Meta platforms, such as Instagram, and the promotion of materials related to child abuse.
In response to these allegations, the child rights organization demanded that Meta Platforms Inc. provide clarifications. Furthermore, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) instructed the Delhi police to examine these concerning claims, as both bodies are verifying Meta's compliance with child protection rules.
According to government sources, the NCPCR decided to begin an inquiry in connection with statements about the appearance of advertisements linked to Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Material (CSEAM) on Meta-owned platforms. This occurred on Tuesday.
