TCL has introduced the Tab A1 Plus to the Brazilian market, a mid-range tablet with a suggested starting price of R$ 2,499. This device was initially presented during MWC 2026, a telecommunications event held in Spain, and is designed to offer reading comfort and productivity features assisted by Artificial Intelligence.
The Tab A1 Plus features integration with Google Gemini and support for the Circle to Search feature. Furthermore, it offers various multitasking tools, including split-screen capability, floating windows, and customizable sidebars.
The device is already available in stores in three different configurations: the version with only a protective case for R$ 2,499; the version with a Flip Case and T-Pen 2 stylus for R$ 2,699; and the complete version with a Smart Keyboard case and T-Pen 2 stylus, priced at R$ 2,999.
For display, the tablet uses a 12.2-inch LCD panel, resulting from a collaboration between TCL and the screen manufacturer TCL CSOT. This panel features 2.4K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, in addition to supporting stylus use.
It is worth noting that this specific version of the TCL Tab A1 Plus does not incorporate Nxtpaper technology, which simulates the feel of paper. In contrast, the TCL Tab A1 Plus Nxtpaper was launched in the United States on the same day, with an approximate value of US$ 399 (about R$ 2,000).
Following the trend of other productivity-focused devices, such as the Acer Iconia Duo S14 and the Xiaomi Pad 7, TCL opted for a 3:2 aspect ratio. According to TCL itself, this format is less elongated than 16:10, providing greater comfort for both media consumption and reading.
In terms of processing, the Tab A1 Plus is equipped with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip. This is a mid-range processor from Qualcomm, composed of eight Kryo cores with a frequency of up to 2.2 GHz, manufactured using a 6-nanometer process, optimized for energy efficiency and daily use.
The commercialized device has one internal specification: 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. This configuration places it below competitors like the Lenovo Idea Tab and, in terms of launch price, even the Galaxy Tab S10 FE, which features 8 GB of RAM and can be found for less than R$ 3,000.
However, the new TCL device stands out by having a larger battery capacity, totaling 10,000 mAh. The camera setup includes an 8 MP main camera and a 5 MP front camera.
It is not necessary to invest large sums to own a tablet at home; depending on the user's needs, more economical models are sufficient for basic tasks such as web browsing, reading, or watching online videos.
Olhar Digital conducted an evaluation of the TCL Tab 10L, an affordable tablet available in the Brazilian market, which can be purchased for less than R$ 700 on Amazon.
Regarding technical specifications, the device features a 10.1-inch screen with an IPS LCD panel and WXGA resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Its processor is the MediaTek MT8766B, a 1.8 GHz Quad-Core. In terms of storage and memory, it has 32 GB internal storage, expandable via a microSD card up to 1 TB, and 3 GB of RAM.
The battery has a capacity of 6,000 mAh and supports 10W charging via a USB-C port. The cameras include a 2 MP rear sensor and a 2 MP front sensor.
The TCL Tab 10L Gen 2 is described as a functional and honest tablet. Unlike common models, it uses a metal body, giving the device greater robustness. With an approximate weight of 500g and a slim profile, it is practical for daily use, whether commuting or relaxing at home.
A positive aspect is that the model already comes with a protective case and screen protector in the box, eliminating immediate additional costs. Although the design does not aim for luxury, it meets the expectations of a device focused on durability and everyday use.
The 10.1-inch screen has basic resolution, meaning it will not achieve the sharpness of higher-category tablets. However, the IPS panel ensures that colors and brightness remain consistent even when the viewing angle is changed. This display is considered appropriate for activities such as reading news, browsing, or watching videos.
For users who spend long periods reading or browsing at night, TCL has implemented software adjustments designed to reduce eye strain. These simple features contribute significantly to comfort during prolonged use of the device.
It is essential to manage expectations when considering this entry-level tablet. It is designed to perform one function at a time.
The native storage space is limited, making the use of a microSD card almost mandatory for those who wish to download series or store many documents. The model comes with 32 GB of internal space and an additional 32 GB memory card, which may be sufficient for the essentials, but might require purchasing a larger microSD for larger data volumes.
The 6,000 mAh battery is highlighted as a strong point of the model, providing good autonomy for daily use. It is likely that after watching videos, browsing social media, and performing other activities, there will still be charge available on the device. Recharging is done via the USB-C port, using the same charger standard as most modern devices.
A notable feature is reverse charging, which allows transferring power from the tablet's battery to other devices. Thus, through the USB-C port, it is possible to charge headphones or smartphones in times of need.
Both the front and rear cameras have 2MP, which represents the acceptable minimum. They are suitable for work video conferences or classes, provided there is good lighting in the environment, but they do not offer image quality for photographs or keepsake videos.
The focus here is strictly on video communication, without advanced photography technologies. Therefore, if the main goal is photography, this tablet will not meet it, only fulfilling the function of an auxiliary device for meetings.
The main merit of the device lies in offering a balanced set at an accessible price. The metal construction, long battery life, and included accessories make the purchase advantageous for those seeking savings. The IPS technology screen is also a clear advantage compared to cheaper competing models that use inferior panels.
However, it is important to be aware of the limitations: being a low-cost tablet, its performance is restricted, preventing the execution of more demanding applications. Additionally, the cameras are merely functional, serving only for occasional video calls.
This tablet is ideal for those who need a secondary device intended for passive content consumption. It is a great option for students who need to read PDFs and follow online classes, for home use focused on streaming, or even for children, due to parental control support and the metal body's resistance.
However, if the intention is to use the device for serious productivity, media editing, or competitive gaming, it will not be suitable. Its purpose is to serve as a companion for uncomplicated and fairly priced entertainment and study.
