The international technology company Listee has started testing its own peer-to-peer (C2C) platform for transactions, selecting Uzbekistan as one of the first markets for launch.
This platform integrates classifieds functionality, tools to enhance user trust, artificial intelligence technologies, and a secure transaction service. To operate in the country, Listee has already opened an office in Tashkent and formed a local team.
Zafar Iskhakov, the Country Manager for Uzbekistan, will be responsible for the project's development in the region. The company is also working on establishing partnerships with participants in the local digital and logistics ecosystem, including fintech and telecommunications sectors.
Listee's Founder and CEO, Vitaly Tumanov, previously held leadership positions at companies such as Google, Avito, and Yandex Eats, where he was responsible for developing technological services for millions of users.
The project team includes specialists with experience from Google, Coca-Cola, Wolt, Yandex, Unilever, and other organizations. Development is supported by international investors whose funds are directed towards creating the technological platform and studying expansion opportunities into new markets.
Overcoming Online Trading Barriers
According to Tumanov, the key problem the platform aims to solve is the low level of trust between private individuals during online trading. He noted: "We see that the main barrier to the development of P2P online trading is the lack of trust. Today, to sell an item via messenger, the seller and buyer must trust a complete stranger, and the outcome of the deal is unpredictable—including attempts to buy the item for a small fraction of its value. We want to eliminate this barrier and give people the ability to safely and conveniently buy and sell from each other."
Artificial intelligence technologies on the platform help find suitable offers, analyze the quality of listings, and identify potentially suspicious activity, while simultaneously simplifying the process of creating listings for sellers.
The rating and review system allows users to make informed decisions when choosing a counterparty. According to the platform's operating model, communication between the buyer and seller occurs through a built-in secure chat and calls without revealing personal phone numbers. Payment and delivery of goods are carried out through the platform's partners: the seller hands over the goods to a logistics partner, and the funds are transferred to them only after the buyer receives and confirms receipt of the goods.
At the current stage, the company is studying user needs and conducting product testing to determine the future regional development strategy. In the future, Listee plans to implement secure payment methods, integrate with logistics services, and add additional user protection mechanisms, including reputation profiles for buyers and sellers. Based on the test results, the company will assess the demand for the solution, user experience, and prospects for further market entry.
In addition to Uzbekistan, the company is focusing on Central Asian markets and is also considering the Middle East and Southeast Asia as directions for further scaling.
