Fintech company Razorpay is expanding its focus on artificial intelligence by attracting highly qualified engineering leaders from organizations such as Microsoft, Salesforce, Cred, and Divyam.ai. These new hires are intended to help build an AI-driven financial infrastructure and autonomous payment systems.
The company stated that these appointments reflect its strategic decision to become an AI-centric platform where payment systems make decisions rather than just processing transactions. The recruited executives are expected to help implement artificial intelligence across the entire company in India.
Sudhir Reddy, CTO and co-founder of Divyam.ai, joins Razorpay as the most senior individual contributor, leading data and AI architecture. He brings nearly two decades of experience building large-scale AI platforms and enterprise systems, including leadership roles at Flipkart, Yahoo, and Symantec.
He is joined by three other leading engineers: Abhishek Agarwal, formerly Chief Engineering Manager at Microsoft in Seattle; Bhavya Shivaprakash, former Senior Director at Salesforce; and Anuj Mathur, who previously served as a Senior Director at Cred.
Together, these four possess complementary expertise in artificial intelligence, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering. This experience is precisely what Razorpay needs to build autonomous, agent-driven financial systems.
Shashank Kumar, CTO and co-founder of Razorpay, stated: 'The financial infrastructure of the next decade will be built completely differently from the previous one. We believe that software will not just help businesses function—it will increasingly reason, make decisions, and act on their behalf.' He added that this requires a fundamentally different engineering organization that combines AI expertise, large-scale engineering experience, and a strong product approach. The experience of these leaders will help accelerate the realization of the ambitious goal of creating an AI-powered financial infrastructure for businesses worldwide.
Praburam Rambadran, VP of Engineering at Razorpay, noted: 'Implementing AI into financial-scale production processes is a complex, subtle task. It involves data quality, system reliability, and real-world decision-making, not just model capabilities. That is why we hired specialists with deep knowledge: people who have actually deployed AI in high-stakes environments and know where it fails.' He emphasized that adding these individuals to the team will allow them to move faster in the engineering work required by agentic commerce.
Commerce in India is entering a new era thanks to AI. Increasingly, instead of humans clicking a 'buy' button, AI agents will handle finding products, negotiating terms, and completing transactions autonomously. The recruitment of executives at Razorpay is a direct response to this shift and demonstrates the company's serious investment in readiness for this change.
The team-building process began in September 2025 when Praburam Rambadran joined as VP of Engineering to shape Razorpay's engineering direction. Since then, Razorpay has launched products such as Agentic Payments, Agent Studio, Agentic Dashboard and Onboarding, Connected Banking Agents, along with a growing suite of internal AI-based developer tools. The new hires mark the next phase—strengthening work on AI, data, cloud infrastructure, and developer platforms to enable intelligent financial decision-making globally.
Sudhir Reddy, CTO and co-founder of Divyam.ai, said: 'I have always believed that AI deserves its place not because of its cleverness, but because of its reliability—and nowhere is this tested more than in financial systems, where every decision has real consequences for real business.' He added that he wants to help create exactly this kind of AI at Razorpay: reliable by design, not just impressive in demonstration. He looks forward to building the data and AI architecture necessary for the next chapter of Razorpay.
