Truth Social, the social network associated with Donald Trump, has introduced a paid service aimed at corporate clients, allowing these entities to receive selected publications before the general public. This feature targets organizations interested in messages that could influence the financial market.
This feature, called Truth API, converts the platform's most significant posts into a commercial product with priority access, which has sparked discussions about insider information.
The service promises post delivery in milliseconds
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the owner of Truth Social, presented the Truth API as a solution directed at companies needing to monitor information with maximum speed. The system provides a direct, licensed, and real-time updated data stream with posts considered capable of shaping financial decisions. According to the company, distribution can occur in fractions of a second and includes a historical archive of posts dating back to 2022.
This novelty gains prominence because Trump uses Truth Social as his main vehicle for disseminating communications on topics such as trade tariffs, economic issues, and international affairs. Among the main benefits announced are early access to posts from important profiles on the platform, rapid content distribution to institutional clients, the message history since 2022, and continuous operation for those following updates.
Trump's messages already move markets
The interest in this new service is directly linked to the impact power that certain statements by the former American president have begun to exert on investors. Financial sector companies already monitor Trump's communications using specialized data platforms and social media information collection services. However, TMTG emphasizes that Truth API offers direct access to content published within the social network itself.
Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of TMTG, stated during the tool's launch that 'markets are already moving with Truth Social posts.' The company also emphasized that this service integrates a larger strategy to convert the platform's own assets into new sources of recurring revenue. Information obtained by Reuters indicates that Trump Media evaluated a fee of up to US$100,000 (approximately R$508,000) monthly for the use of Truth API.
The tool generates political debate in the US
The launch of this service also raised questions. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff requested an investigation from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to analyze the potential effects of the tool. From the perspective of these legislators, providing faster access to the president's messages could create an undue advantage for large investors, harming ordinary market participants.
In a letter addressed to the SEC, the senators argued that 'this appears to be a scandalous abuse of presidential office for personal gain, which harms ordinary investors and market integrity, while enriching Wall Street and other privileged and wealthy participants.' Created in 2022 after Trump was banned from other social networks, Truth Social has consolidated itself as the primary digital space used by the president to issue public statements. Truth API transforms this flow of information into a business opportunity for TMTG, but simultaneously raises a fundamental question: who should have priority access to messages capable of influencing economic decisions?
