Kuwait recalls Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery models due to airbag issues

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has confirmed the recall of certain vehicle models, including the Nissan Qashqai, Toyota Land Cruiser 300, and Lexus LX600, with information provided by the respective suppliers.

Issues with Nissan Qashqai

Nissan is recalling 314 units of the Qashqai. This recall is part of a larger campaign announced on October 23, 2025, which involved the recall of 1,688 vehicles. According to NCC representative Feto Ntaba, the problem is that the fuel line in the engine bay may shift from its retaining clip while the engine is running. This movement can cause wear on the fuel line, potentially leading to perforation and fuel leakage.

Nissan has notified the NCC about implementing a new repair as a permanent solution, supplementing the temporary repair conducted during the previous recall campaign. The affected vehicles were manufactured between May 4, 2021, and September 17, 2024.

Recall of Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX600

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX600 models are also subject to recall. Toyota is recalling 507 Land Cruiser 300 vehicles, while Lexus SA Motors Pty (Ltd) is recalling 124 LX600 models. The Land Cruiser vehicles were sold from December 13, 2022, to May 7, 2024, whereas the Lexus models were sold from December 15, 2022, to May 7, 2024, and exported to Botswana and Namibia.

According to the suppliers, both models, Lexus and Land Cruiser, are equipped with the V35A engine, which contains crankshaft main bearings. During a specific production period, residual machining particles may not have been completely removed during manufacturing, leading to contamination of the engine unit.

Risks for Lexus LX600

If manufacturing particles adhere to the main bearings, and the engine continues to operate under increased loads, the bearings may fail. This could trigger engine knocking, uneven engine performance, starting difficulties, or engine shutdown. Engine failure while driving can lead to loss of traction and an increased risk of accidents at high speeds.

Owners of the affected vehicles are strongly advised to visit the nearest authorized Nissan or Toyota dealership for inspection and necessary free repairs.
