Uzbekistan's economy demonstrated a high growth rate in the first half of 2026. Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 8.5%, reaching a volume of 1,072.7 trillion sums, which indicates stable economic activity in the country.
According to preliminary data from the National Statistical Committee, the GDP volume in January-June 2026 amounted to 1,072.7 trillion sums at current prices. This figure reflects the continuation of growth trends in production, services, investment activities, and domestic economic processes.
The main part of the economic growth during the reporting period was ensured by accounting for the gross value added of sectors. Specifically, the share of sectoral gross value added in economic growth was 8.1 percentage points, and the share of net product tax was 0.4 percentage points. Thus, the majority of the total 8.5% economic growth was driven by the added value created directly in the economic sectors, indicating a continuation of economic activity in the real sector.
The volume of Uzbekistan's GDP in the first half of recent years has shown significant growth. In 2022, it was 441.5 trillion sums, in 2023—527.7 trillion sums, in 2024—670.1 trillion sums, and in 2025—900.7 trillion sums, reaching 1,072.7 trillion sums in 2026. These figures also show a significant expansion of GDP in nominal terms: if the GDP in the first half of 2022 was 441.5 trillion sums, by 2026 it reached 1,072.7 trillion sums, meaning the GDP volume in the first half of five years almost doubled.
GDP growth indicates a high level of economic activity in the country. The expansion of the economic volume is an important factor for increasing production and service volumes, implementing new investment projects, supporting entrepreneurial activity, and creating new jobs.
Overall, the 8.5% GDP growth in the first half of 2026 confirms the sustained high trend of economic development in Uzbekistan. The key task now is to transform this growth into an increase in the well-being of the population, labor productivity, and the competitiveness of the economy.
