The Iranian men's national volleyball team will travel to Russia for a ten-day training camp starting August 20. This trip is part of the team's final preparation for the 2026 Men's Asian Volleyball Championship.
The Asian volleyball competition will take place in Fukuoka, Japan, from September 4 to 13. The Iranian squad, consisting of 14 players, will first head to Russia and then immediately travel to Japan to participate in the continental championship.
Currently, the team is conducting its training sessions in Tehran, where the staff of head coach Roberto Piazza continues the preparations.
The 2026 Men's Asian Volleyball Championship holds particular significance as it serves as the first qualification stage for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. According to tournament rules, the champions of the championship are guaranteed a spot in the 2028 Olympics.
In addition to the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics, the tournament also offers spots in the 2027 FIVB Men's World Volleyball Championship; the top three finishing teams can qualify for this global event.
Given the stakes for Olympic qualification, this championship is expected to be one of the most intense in the history of the Asian Championship, as leading continental teams will compete both for regional supremacy and a place on major international volleyball stages.
