The Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Shokhruh Gulomov, met with representatives of the Korea Export-Import Bank (KEXIM). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current status and prospects of cooperation within the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), as well as the progress of joint projects.
During the negotiations, it was noted that KEXIM's project portfolio in Uzbekistan includes 27 initiatives totaling $3.6 billion USD. Of these, nine projects worth $366.6 million have been completed, ten projects valued at $1.08 billion are in the implementation process, and eight other projects totaling $2.19 billion are under development.
The parties confirmed that the preparation and execution of projects financed through the EDCF are carried out in accordance with the existing intergovernmental mechanisms and established procedures of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
Particular attention was paid to procurement procedures. It was emphasized that the selection of consultants, contractors, and suppliers is based on the principles of openness, fairness, and competition.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on further information exchange and practical interaction regarding the implementation of joint projects.
