According to an analysis conducted as of July 31, there is a positive trend in fulfilling license issuance requests. Over the last four months, more than 13 thousand such documents were issued on average. Specifically, 10,885 licenses were handed out in April, 14,528 in May, 14,074 in June, and 14,300 in July.
This significant result was made possible by the implementation of 'extraordinary measures' to improve the process of producing and issuing biometric driver's licenses for pending applications. Nevertheless, the Institute warns that some Inatro delegations still have produced and ready-to-collect licenses that have not yet been picked up.
To resolve this issue, the National Institute of Road Transport (Inatro) announced the continuation of measures aimed at accelerating mass document issuance through mobile brigades in districts and among the diaspora.
Furthermore, the digital platform 'Carta Pronta' has been launched. This application allows drivers who have applied for a license to check its availability via mobile devices and visit a delegation only to collect the document.
According to the document, the use of the 'Carta Pronta' application contributes to a gradual reduction in the flow of users who came to Inatro delegations solely to inquire about the availability of their license. The application also helps reduce service time as it includes functions for managing the inventory of available licenses at each delegation, as well as real-time monitoring of the issuance process.
The National Institute of Road Transport of Mozambique announced the construction of the first Intelligent Driving Examination Center. The goal of this project is to reduce illegal practices and strengthen confidence in the country's driver training and certification system. This announcement was made on July 1.
The Intelligent Examination Centers are designed as complex facilities specifically for conducting practical driving tests, simulating real road conditions in a properly marked and equipped environment. This center will be built in the city of Beira, Sofala province, in the central part of the country, and will use information and communication technologies to support candidate assessment, thereby ensuring greater transparency, rigor, and integrity in the skills certification process.
Previously, in March, the organization reported that 'extraordinary measures' resulted in the printing of 25 thousand driver's licenses out of 35 thousand pending applications. This result was also due to the commissioning of an additional printing machine, which doubled the established production capacity from 750 to 1,500 licenses per day, as well as improvements to the computer systems involved in the printing process. On January 28, the institution announced that a new driver's license supplier would begin operations by the end of the first half of the year to accelerate the production and printing of this document.
