An extraordinary meeting of the Permanent Commission on National Exams was scheduled for the leaders' conference this Friday. This meeting was planned without the mandatory participation of the Government, but the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Carlos Abreu Amorim, assured that the Government accepts this decision and has 'never refused to provide clarifications or denied the possible presence of a government member.'
Several parties—PS, Livre, PCP, and Bloco de Esquerda—were pressuring the Minister of Education to attend the meeting. Fernando Alexandre's office has already responded to RTP that the government will be present.
PS deputy Pedro Delgado Alves emphasized that the minister is a person 'capable of providing the necessary clarifications,' and that debates without Fernando Alexandre 'would be very strange.'
The national secondary school exams this academic year were postponed due to technical failures in the unprecedented digital correction process. These issues forced the Ministry of Education to postpone several scheduled deadlines, including the publication of schedules and the start of the second stage.
