Google has introduced Gemini Spark to the Brazilian market, a personal artificial intelligence agent that operates continuously, allowing for background activities such as data organization, email management, and research.
Gemini Spark is capable of performing various functions, such as entering detailed flight ticket and hotel reservation information into spreadsheets, analyzing credit card bills, and drafting responses to customer inquiries.
The official launch announcement occurred this Friday, July 31st. The service functions as a '24-hour personal AI agent,' integrated with Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, discreetly executing tasks requested by the user without requiring the application to remain open or the user to track the process.
Although Spark was previously presented in May during Google I/O 2026, its availability to Brazilian users is only happening now. Initially, it will be offered to subscribers of the AI Ultra package (with a monthly cost of R$ 779.90) and AI Pro (with a monthly cost of R$ 96.99). Implementation will be gradual, and there may be a waiting period for access, even for those who already have one of these plans.
According to the material released on the Google blog, Gemini Spark transforms AI from a mere assistant that responds to questions into a proactive collaborator that performs tasks even while the user is sleeping.
Despite operating autonomously, the user maintains control over which Google services are connected to the assistant. Additionally, the company guarantees that the assistant will request confirmation before proceeding with significant actions, such as sending emails or making expenditures.
In the launch announcement, Google exemplifies several tasks that can be delegated to Spark. For example, when receiving travel-related emails, the assistant can automatically add flight and hotel reservation details to a spreadsheet.
Another functionality is the periodic search for events of interest, which can be performed every Friday and inserted into a specific document.
In terms of financial management, Spark assists in reviewing monthly credit card bills found in Gmail, alerting the user to possible subscription increases.
In a professional context, the assistant can generate draft responses to customer queries, suggesting the most appropriate services, in addition to creating a style guide based on exchanged messages, to be used when the user requests an email draft.
It is important to note that, in most of these situations, the execution is automated. Tasks can be repeated at defined intervals (weekly, daily, or monthly, among others) or triggered by a specific event, such as the arrival of a new email.
Figma announced this Wednesday (07/22) the implementation of local data hosting in Brazil through the opening of a new office in the city of São Paulo. With this new feature, the platform will allow corporate plan customers to keep their files stored on national servers.
This initiative aims to meet governance and data privacy regulations, aligning Brazil with countries such as the European Union, Australia, and India. In a statement, the collaborative platform, used by teams to develop prototypes and digital interfaces, expressed the expectation that this decentralized infrastructure will give customers greater control over the location of their information without harming service performance.
The new functionality is primarily aimed at large corporations, especially in the technology and finance sectors, which have specific requirements regarding data custody location. Débora Mioranzza, Figma's director for Latin America, commented that Brazil has one of the most vibrant design and technology communities globally. She emphasized that expanding the São Paulo office and bringing data hosting closer reinforces the company's commitment to the country.
Among the clients who use the platform are Itaú Unibanco, iFood, Mercado Livre, Nubank, Sicredi, and BTG Pactual.
The introduction of local hosting accompanies Figma's advancement in the Brazilian territory. Data from the platform itself indicates that in the first quarter of 2026, Brazil was among the five largest markets for the company in terms of weekly active users. In the preceding twelve months, Brazilian users generated approximately 14 million files, which represents half of the large companies listed on the Ibovespa, a significant increase compared to the 35% recorded in mid-2025.
This offering of servers in the country follows the regionalization strategy that began with the adaptation and translation of the platform into Brazilian Portuguese, which occurred in May 2025. The improvements may increase Figma's competitiveness in the national market against Adobe's offerings, following the attempt to acquire the startup for US$20 billion in 2022, which was blocked by UK authorities.
Both Figma and its competitor invest in generative artificial intelligence to support content creation, exemplified by the Figma Make feature. It should be noted that the Figma platform faced plagiarism accusations in 2024 related to designs generated by its tool.
