Ather Energy is preparing to release a new electric scooter positioned as a mass-market model. According to information, the company plans to introduce this scooter next month, and it will be based on the company's latest platform.
Before the official launch, Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta shared a photo of the scooter. The picture shows an electric scooter based on the EL platform on the assembly line. This suggests that the company will present this model at the end of August. There is a possibility that this scooter will have a metal body.
This scooter will launch on August 29 as part of Ather Community Day. Tarun Mehta posted the picture on social media, which gives an idea of the future scooter's design. It will be equipped with a headlight mounted on the handlebar, as well as a wide LED daytime running light (DRL) on the front shield.
The overall design of this model largely resembles five patents obtained by the company last year. Instead of polymer panels used in current models, it may integrate a metal structure. The wheel set is also clearly visible in the photo. It is assumed that the front wheel will have a diameter of 14 inches, and the rear one will have 12 inches.
Previously, at last year's Community Day, Ather announced that the EL platform was developed based on operational data collected over 26 million kilometers. This platform is designed for use in various models and for different application scenarios.
The company also confirmed that this platform supports battery capacities from 2 kWh to 5 kWh. Furthermore, the scooter may incorporate a silent motor with a planetary gearbox and an onboard charger. The new Ather scooter could become the brand's most budget-friendly product to date.
The company might price this scooter in the range of 100,000 to 125,000 rupees. The launch will take place on August 29, and on the same day, the company plans to introduce several other products. It should be noted that the Ather Rizta starts at an export price of 121,000 rupees, and the 450 Range model starts at an export price of 128,000 rupees.
