According to a study by NaPista, the Hyundai HB20 became the most sought-after used car during the first half of the year. This vehicle gathered 223 thousand queries and took the leading position ahead of models such as Volkswagen Gol and Chevrolet Onix.
There was also an increase in prices in the used car market during the reporting period. According to IBV Auto, an index that tracks the cost of light vehicles, prices increased by 3.49% between January and June.
Models Leading Queries Among Brazilians
The analysis conducted by NaPista covered over 300 thousand listings posted on the automotive marketplace. The results show that popular models continue to attract significant interest from those looking for used transport. The Hyundai HB20 ranked first with 223 thousand inquiries. The Volkswagen Gol was second, gathering over 195 thousand search queries, and the Chevrolet Onix surpassed 171 thousand queries.
The Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla completed the top five most popular cars. According to the survey, the price of these models ranged from 43 thousand to 81 thousand reais.
The top 10 most sought-after models were as follows: Hyundai HB20; Volkswagen Gol; Chevrolet Onix; Honda Civic; Toyota Corolla; Fiat Palio; Fiat Strada; Ford Ka; Volkswagen Polo; Volkswagen Fox.
Most Sought-After Models Also Showed Price Increases
In addition to topping the query lists, some of the most desired cars by consumers also showed price increases during the half-year period. The IBV Auto index indicates an average increase in the cost of used light vehicles of 3.49% from January to June. Some states demonstrated growth above this average: Minas Gerais recorded an increase of 5.09%; Piauí showed a growth of 4.32%; and Maranhão—of 4.12%.
Among the most frequently searched models, the Toyota Corolla showed the largest increase, rising by 4.17%. The Hyundai HB20 followed with a growth of 3.68%, while the Volkswagen Gol increased by 3.30%.
The used car market continues to compete for popularity among mass-market models. The study data demonstrates that cars well-known to Brazilians remain among the most sought-after in the secondary market. Compact models, such as HB20, Gol, and Onix, are alongside traditional sedans, like Civic and Corolla.
