Good news for the Indian team: star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has fully recovered and will be available to participate in the entire two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
Bumrah successfully passed the physical fitness check at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. He is now ready to participate in the upcoming two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka, which starts on August 15, with the second match scheduled for August 23.
There were earlier doubts about his ability to participate in the trip to Sri Lanka, as his selection for the Indian squad was conditional upon receiving fitness clearance. However, the medical team has given him the green light.
According to PTI, Bumrah successfully passed the mandatory fitness test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence located in Bangalore. He has fully recovered from the injury sustained during the ODI series against England. Because of this, he will lead India's fast bowling attack in both matches against Sri Lanka.
Previously, due to this injury, Bumrah was excluded from the third ODI match held at Lord's. According to a senior BCCI official who wished to remain unnamed, Bumrah has fully recovered from the injury and passed all tests set by the COE, and he is expected to be available for both matches as he is an important part of the team's plans.
Bumrah's return comes at a time when the Indian team has already faced injury issues. His presence will strengthen the bowling department and enhance India's position in the World Test Championship (WTC) campaign.
The Indian squad for the tour of Sri Lanka includes: Shubman Gill (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Devdhadh Pattickala, Sai Sudarshan (subject to fitness), Dhruva Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Sutara, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Batra, and Saransh Jana.
