Following negotiations between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Arab Emirates, Umid Shodiyev, and the Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah International Charity Organization (SCI), Muhammad Rashid Bayat, an agreement was reached on developing funding for social projects in Uzbekistan through grant funds.
During the meeting, the Uzbek side presented information on ongoing reforms in the field of social support, the implementation of a transparent digital system for providing social services, as well as state programs aimed at human capital development. Special attention was paid to priority projects planned for implementation in Uzbekistan.
These priority projects cover areas such as education, healthcare, improving public water supply systems, and developing social infrastructure. Representatives of SCI reported that the organization was founded in 1989 at the initiative of the Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
Currently, SCI implements humanitarian projects in more than 100 countries worldwide in the fields of social welfare, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. As a result of the meeting, it was decided that SCI will select projects that meet the criteria for receiving grant funding. Furthermore, the parties agreed to organize a visit by the organization's management and specialists to Uzbekistan between September and October 2026 to sign relevant agreements on grant allocation.
According to Dunyo IA, this meeting marked another step in expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates in the social and humanitarian spheres, as well as in attracting international grant funding for social projects.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met on July 20 with a delegation from the Republic of Belarus headed by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich.
At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of the delegation conveyed greetings and best wishes to the high-ranking guests from the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. The parties discussed current issues concerning the expansion of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
It was noted with satisfaction that the official visit of the head of state to Minsk on July 8-9 of this year yielded effective results in the fields of trade and economy. The importance of timely implementation of the action plan adopted to increase the volume of trade turnover to 2 billion US dollars and promote cooperation projects in key economic sectors was emphasized.
Special attention was paid to utilizing Belarusian experience in the creation of the first nuclear power plant and related infrastructure in Uzbekistan. Aspects such as expert support for the design, construction, and operation processes of the future NPP, training national personnel for this industry, and launching joint programs between relevant higher education institutions were discussed.
