The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met on July 20 with a delegation from the Republic of Belarus headed by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich.
Greetings and Cooperation
At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of the delegation conveyed greetings and best wishes to the high-ranking guests from the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. The parties discussed current issues concerning the expansion of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
Review of Previous Visit
It was noted with satisfaction that the official visit of the head of state to Minsk on July 8-9 of this year yielded effective results in the fields of trade and economy. The importance of timely implementation of the action plan adopted to increase the volume of trade turnover to 2 billion US dollars and promote cooperation projects in key economic sectors was emphasized.
Energy and Education
Special attention was paid to utilizing Belarusian experience in the creation of the first nuclear power plant and related infrastructure in Uzbekistan. Aspects such as expert support for the design, construction, and operation processes of the future NPP, training national personnel for this industry, and launching joint programs between relevant higher education institutions were discussed.
