Uzbek Chess Player Akhadjon Kimsanboev Wins World Champion Title Among Visually Impaired

Bunod Hasanov, an Uzbek wrestling athlete, won the gold medal at the Junior World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship in Baku. This success makes him the first representative of Uzbekistan to win two world titles in this age category.

Tournament Achievements

The sixteen-year-old athlete, who was world champion last year in the under 48 kg weight class, successfully debuted at the current tournament in the new under 51 kg class. On his way to victory, he won four matches, three of which ended with a technical superiority. The only match that went the full distance ended with Hasanov's victory with a score of 6:2. During the entire competition, Hasanov scored 25 points, while his opponents managed to earn only four.

Final and Results

In the final, the Uzbek wrestler faced Abdurrahman Huseynili from Azerbaijan, who had previously won bronze at the previous world championship. Hasanov took the initiative from the first minutes, forcing his opponent to receive a passivity warning, and then executed a throw from the back, scoring points. He increased his advantage and concluded the match with a convincing victory with a score of 9:0.

According to the results of the competition, the Uzbekistan team finished fourth in the team standings, accumulating 85 points, trailing the third-place Iran by 11 points. The Russian team won the tournament, and the Azerbaijani team took second place.

Other Medalists and Champions

Sadriddin Tulkinboev also brought a medal to Uzbekistan, winning bronze in the under 60 kg weight class. In the bronze medal match, he defeated Alexandru Lungu from Romania with a score of 10:2.

The world champions in the other weight classes were Raylan Wax from the United States (under 45 kg), Amirreza Tahmasbpour from Iran (under 60 kg), Genes Nazaryan from Armenia (under 71 kg), and Tomasz Mital from Poland (under 92 kg).
