The best female chess players from the continent participated in the women's section of the championship. Umida Omonova took third place, scoring 9.5 points over 13 games. The tournament winner was Harika Dronawalli from India, who scored 10.5 points. The silver medal was won by Russian Valentina Gunina, trailing the champion by only half a point.
The title of Asian Champion in the men's tournament was awarded to Vietnamese grandmaster Le Tuan Minh, who scored 11 points. Krishna Gautam from India took second place, and the bronze medal went to Jian Haochen from China, with 9.5 points. A total of 160 chess players from 12 different countries participated in the Asian Championship.
It is worth noting that last year Umida Omonova was recognized as the Chess Player of the Year in Uzbekistan.
The IBSA World Chess Championship concluded in Sofia, Bulgaria, gathering visually impaired and blind athletes from around the world. The main winner of this tournament was the Uzbek Akhadjon Kimsanboev, who secured the title of world champion.
Throughout the competition, Kimsanboev demonstrated consistently strong play and managed to maintain his lead in the final matches, becoming recognized as the best chess player among blind and visually impaired athletes. This triumph is an important success for Uzbek para-chess recently.
In addition to the champion, Uzbekistan was represented at the world championship by athletes such as Abboshon Ahmadkhanov, Sabohat Ikromaliyeva, Mukshin Madaminov, and Zuhra Olimjanova, who proudly represented their country on the international stage. The championship took place with the participation of leading blind and visually impaired chess players from various countries under the auspices of the International Blind Sports Federation.
