Uzbekistan and Latvia are developing a new driver training system intended for employment in Latvian transport companies. This was reported by the Migration Service of Uzbekistan following a meeting attended by Bekhzod Musaev, Director of the Migration Service of Uzbekistan, Latvian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Girts Jaunzems, and executives from the transport and logistics company Kreiss.
The Latvian side proposed organizing driver training directly in Uzbekistan with the involvement of specialists from Latvia. Furthermore, they advocated for conducting exams for obtaining Latvian driving licenses on the territory of Uzbekistan. To implement this project, the Migration Service was tasked with creating a training site, specialized classrooms, and other necessary infrastructure.
It is expected that the new system will allow candidates to start working immediately upon arrival in Latvia, bypassing mandatory training courses that currently take over a month. It is also assumed that this will lead to a reduction in additional costs and a shorter adaptation period for employees.
Representatives of Kreiss, which employs over a thousand Uzbek citizens, emphasized the importance of employees adhering to the terms of employment contracts. They noted that in some cases, workers who received training at the employer's expense move to other companies, which negatively affects the organized labor migration system. After the meeting, Kreiss agreed to provide technical requirements for the planned training and examination center, while the Migration Service will consider the possibility of establishing the training site and necessary infrastructure in the Tashkent region. The parties also agreed to begin preparing a draft intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and Latvia regarding organized labor migration.
The Migration Agency of Uzbekistan announced the launch of a program aimed at training and employing Uzbek specialists in healthcare in public and private medical institutions of the Czech Republic.
This initiative resulted from agreements reached during the visit of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, to Uzbekistan.
Following discussions between the Director of the Migration Agency, Behzod Musaev, representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Czech Republic, and the Minister of Health of the Czech Republic, Adam Vojtěch, the parties agreed to launch the program. The goal is to prepare Uzbek medical workers for work in the Czech Republic with subsequent employment, including high-qualification positions in state and private clinics.
The program includes learning the Czech language, developing professional skills, creating dual education programs, and simplifying procedures for recognizing diplomas and professional qualifications. The implementation of the program is scheduled to begin in September 2026.
