Arboreal Bioinnovations, a company specializing in food ingredient and nutraceutical technology, has successfully raised ₹230 crore in a Series A funding round. This round was co-led by EAAA, an alternative asset management division of Edelweiss, and Omnivore.
The round also saw participation from existing investor Rainmatter from Zerodha. The company plans to use the raised funds to expand production capacities, strengthen research capabilities, and accelerate the commercialization of its new generation of functional ingredients.
The startup possesses an integrated technology platform that combines ingredient engineering design, process research and development, formulation science, and precision manufacturing. This platform supports the launch of over 300 products. The company supplies proteins, sugar reduction solutions, cocoa ingredients, and nutraceutical active substances, which are specially developed ingredients. Arboreal serves over 1100 B2B clients across India.
Swati Pandey, Co-founder and CEO of Arboreal Bioinnovations, noted that this fundraising is a strong validation of the company's chosen direction. She emphasized that it provides them with resources to accelerate their mission of creating clean, scientifically backed solutions aimed at solving the most pressing global nutrition and food challenges, while innovations originate in India and reach consumers worldwide.
Manish Chauhan, Co-founder and COO of Arboreal Bioinnovations, stated that the capital raised will allow the company to invest more deeply in science, production, talent, and long-term innovation, while developing a platform capable of creating unique ingredients for some of the world's most important food and nutraceutical brands.
The startup asserts that it develops solutions that meet the specific nutritional, functional, sensory, and commercial requirements of Indian consumers and brands.
Ashish Agarwal, Managing Director of Private Equity at EAAA Alternatives, stated that the investment in Arboreal reflects the core philosophy of the fund's strategy—supporting enterprises with the potential to become category leaders. He added that, as the first investment from Discovery Fund II, they are particularly excited about the long-term growth prospects of Arboreal's next-generation yeast protein-based products.
