Gillette India, a personal hygiene product manufacturer, announced on Thursday a 9.4% increase in profit for the first quarter, driven by steady demand for its personal care products.
First Quarter Financial Results
The company, a division of the major American consumer goods producer Procter & Gamble, reported a net profit of 159 crore rupees ($16.61 million USD), surpassing the previous year's figure of 146 crore rupees. The company's revenue increased by 10.8%, reaching 783 crore rupees.
Business Segment Growth
The main driver of growth was the personal care segment, which showed an increase of almost 9%. This segment accounts for over 80% of total revenue. Additionally, the smaller oral care segment showed an increase of almost 19%.
Expenses and Market Reaction
Despite the positive results, the company's expenses rose by 10.9% due to increased raw material costs. Following the release of the results, the company's shares fell by 2.8% before stabilizing and trading at a 2% decrease.
