The export of electromechanical products from China is demonstrating growing popularity among global consumers and enterprises. The assortment includes refrigerators, air conditioners, electric fans, photoelectric devices, and excavators.
Export Growth and Quality Recognition
According to China's foreign trade data, in the first half of 2026, the export of electromechanical goods reached 9.36 trillion yuan (US$1.38 trillion), representing a growth of 20.1%. The products attract attention on social media, where international users praise their practicality and convenient design.
High quality of Chinese products is behind the consumer recognition. Zhejiang Aike Appliances Co., Ltd., which manufactures hand dryers and soap dispensers, has expanded its international presence thanks to reliable products characterized by fast drying and low noise levels. These items are ideal for various public places such as shopping malls, hospitals, and transport hubs.
International Presence of Companies
According to Zhang Zhengrong, the company's assistant general manager, the products are installed in iconic public places worldwide, including the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Olympic venues in London. Exports account for 70% of the company's business, and total sales this year are expected to grow by more than 10%.
The quality of Chinese goods is supported by the country's extensive industrial ecosystem. Li Chao, foreign trade manager at Zhejiang Crossbow Brand Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., noted that the comprehensive supply chain allows the company to obtain all components—from motors and printed circuit boards to sensors—within the Yangtze River Delta, significantly increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
Innovation and Localization
The company introduced multifunctional silent fans that combine air purification and heating. These models are smaller, safer, easier to clean, and more energy-efficient compared to traditional counterparts. The launch of new products, such as the 360-degree silent air purifier, contributed to export growth, increasing both volume and value by nearly 20% year-on-year.
Localized research and development (R&D) and after-sales service have become as important for maintaining international growth as product innovation itself. Home appliance giant Midea implemented a 'Local for Local' strategy, developing products based on the needs of local consumers rather than simply adapting existing models.
Adaptation to Regional Markets
Xiong Xueqin, Midea's sales director for residential air conditioners (RAC) in Europe, reported that demand in overseas markets remained high in the first half of 2026, especially for air conditioners. Shipments of the popular PortaSplit air conditioner exceeded 200,000 units, with another 160,000 units planned for production and delivery in July. The company currently manages 65 production sites globally.
Construction machinery manufacturer Sunward Intelligent has enhanced its global competitiveness through products adapted to regional markets. Hou Kai, Head of Product Management at Sunward Intelligent International Marketing Company, stated that the company developed loaders with safety warning systems intended for the European market to enhance operational safety. For Africa, the SWE385F excavator was modified for mining operations, receiving special configurations for operation in mud and heavy sand.
Sunward Intelligent has 26 overseas subsidiaries and spare parts warehouses, supported by over 300 dealers and partners worldwide. The three-tier spare parts network ensures fast delivery of key components, and over 2,000 service personnel provide round-the-clock technical support.
Contribution of Customs Support
Yu Chenhua, an industry expert from Alibaba.com, pointed to strong sales of industrial goods such as construction machinery, cooling and heat exchange equipment, machine tools, agricultural and packaging equipment, as well as environmental protection equipment. Consumer appliances, including coffee makers, electric kettles, toothbrushes, multi-functional stylers, and vacuum cleaners, are also performing well.
Customs support has also contributed to export growth. Customs authorities across China have implemented targeted trade facilitation measures tailored to specific industries. In Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, Southern China, simplified customs clearance has helped home appliance manufacturers cope with growing export orders.
Sector Prospects
Experts note that the export of Chinese electromechanical products grew at an average annual rate of 8.4% during the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), which is higher than the growth rate recorded during the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan (2016–2020). As pro-industry policies come into effect, the sector is poised to strengthen its competitiveness through digital transformation, bringing more benefits to consumers worldwide.
