L&T secures major contract from Kuwait Oil Company for design, procurement, and construction of export facilities

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on Friday that its high-tech manufacturing division has secured international contracts totaling up to 500 billion rupees, covering markets in Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and Europe.

New Contracts and Projects

The company reported in a stock exchange filing that the L&T Heavy Engineering orders include agreements with Dangote Group, Africa's largest industrial conglomerate. These contracts pertain to projects for expanding refineries and producing fertilizers in Nigeria and Ethiopia.

The scope of work for the Dangote projects involves supplying critical technological equipment, including, according to L&T, the world's largest package of catalytic cracking reactors (FCC Reactor Regenerator Package), as well as key equipment for urea and ammonia production.

International Equipment Supplies

Furthermore, L&T received a repeat order from a Japanese client for the manufacture and supply of heat exchangers and absorbers for an LNG project in Canada. The company also secured orders for equipment such as coke drums, distillation columns, and heat exchangers from clients in Spain, the USA, and Brazil.

Anil Parab, Director All Matters and Senior Executive Vice President of Manufacturing at L&T, noted that these orders confirm client confidence in L&T's global manufacturing capabilities and its stable experience in providing high-quality technological equipment to global customers.

L&T emphasized that the acquired orders strengthen its status as a global supplier of refinery equipment. The company operates within EPC projects, as well as in manufacturing and service sectors across various regions of the world. As of 10:20 AM, L&T shares were trading on the BSE at 3723.30 rupees, which was 1.85 percent lower than the previous close.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed a series of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts with leading domestic companies in the mining and metallurgy sectors.

New Contracts in the Mining Industry

Specifically, L&T received a contract to build an iron ore processing complex in the state of Chhattisgarh. This order came from India's largest state-owned iron ore producer. The project is part of the expansion program of this mining enterprise, aiming to increase iron ore production to 100 million tonnes per year by 2030.

The scope of work for this project includes the development and design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of a downward conveyor system, a sorting plant, a stockpiling yard, yard equipment, as well as a Rail Wagon Loading System (RWLS) and associated auxiliary facilities.

Expansion of Metallurgical Capacity

Furthermore, the company secured several Design & Build and Balance of Plant (BoP) packages from a Navratna-category public sector undertaking. These works relate to the expansion of a steel plant in West Bengal, increasing its capacity from 2.5 million tonnes per year to 7.1 million tonnes per year.

Zinc Processing Project

In addition, L&T won an EPC order from a private metal producer to build a zinc processing plant. This contract covers all stages: design and engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, and related site services.
