The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, held an online meeting with partners to discuss the practical implementation of the ANORA platform (Investment Opportunities in the Agro-Food Sector for Sustainable Agriculture).
The main goal of the meeting was to bring the platform into practical operation and strengthen cooperation between state structures, international financial institutions, development partners, and donor organizations. Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture N. Kushnazarov and representatives of the project office presented priority directions for the transformation of Uzbekistan's agro-food system, as well as outlined the sector's investment needs.
Representatives of the EBRD and the FAO Investment Centre presented mechanisms for implementing the ANORA platform, its key areas of focus, and prospects for international cooperation. Participants in the discussion included representatives of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Agency for Agrobusiness Development, commercial banks, as well as major structures such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, FAO, the Global Environment Facility, the Green Climate Fund, the Institute for Global Green Growth, the United Nations Development Programme, GIZ, the European Union, the embassies of Uzbekistan in Germany and the United Kingdom, and more than twenty international organizations and development partners.
Participants discussed the formation of a portfolio of investment projects within the ANORA platform, the mobilization of financial and technical support, issues of food security, efficient water resource management, and the development of climate-resilient agriculture. At the end of the meeting, participants agreed on further steps for implementing the platform, defined its priority areas, and mechanisms for future cooperation. The organizers noted that the launch of the ANORA platform should contribute to attracting green investments and strengthening long-term partnerships between state bodies, international financial institutions, and development partners.
According to Dunyo news agency, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Oibek Shahavdinov met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for Foreign and European Affairs, Filip Ivanovic.
The parties discussed the further development of political dialogue while simultaneously expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, investment, and tourism.
One of the central issues was the creation of an Intergovernmental Commission. Furthermore, possibilities for strengthening direct interaction between business representatives and implementing joint projects in areas such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology, and digitalization were discussed.
Special attention was paid to improving the legal framework and expanding partnership in the fields of labor migration, education, science, culture, and vocational training.
Participants also spoke about the need to develop transport links between the two countries and increase mutual tourist flows. At the end of the meeting, Uzbekistan and Montenegro confirmed their readiness to continue working on specific initiatives aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial partnership.
A Uzbek-Chinese business forum was held in Tashkent, attended by the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan and a delegation from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China.
During the event, the parties discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as opportunities for implementing new joint projects. The forum gathered representatives of state and industry structures, as well as 22 Chinese companies operating in fields such as metallurgy, energy, logistics, biotechnology, automotive manufacturing, food industry, and others.
Participants noted a significant growth in trade turnover between Uzbekistan and China, which has tripled over the past five years and is expected to approach $18 billion USD by the end of 2025. Over the same period, the volume of direct Chinese investment increased fivefold, reaching $17 billion USD. Currently, more than 6,000 enterprises with Chinese capital operate in Uzbekistan.
Forum participants examined potential areas for joint initiatives, including mining, green energy, agriculture, healthcare, high technology, industrial cooperation, and the production of export-oriented goods. The forum concluded with the creation of a platform for establishing new business contacts, developing investment plans, and promoting joint projects between companies from both countries.
In Tashkent, Uzbekistan, a training seminar was held dedicated to introducing greenhouse gas monitoring, reporting, and verification (GHG MRV) systems at the enterprise level. The event was organized on July 22, 2026, by the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Green Economy Projects Center, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that the seminar is part of efforts to support green industrialization in Uzbekistan and provide technical consultations on implementing GHG MRV systems at industrial facilities. Specialists from relevant ministries and agencies, representatives of industrial enterprises, and industry experts took part in the event.
Expert Zsolt Lendel, representing the German company Integration Consulting hired by GIZ, presented international experience in assessing enterprises' readiness to implement GHG MRV systems. Participants also familiarized themselves with practical methods for organizing monitoring, reporting, and verification processes, as well as modern approaches to managing greenhouse gas emissions.
Practical sessions focused on assessing enterprises' readiness for MRV implementation, developing monitoring plans, collecting and managing emission data, and preparing reports according to international standards. Participants discussed the main difficulties associated with emission monitoring and data collection, as well as reporting methodologies and ways to ensure information reliability. During group exercises led by an international expert, participants practiced preparing MRV reports and reporting procedures using existing projects as examples.
According to the ministry, this seminar represents another step towards the phased implementation of GHG MRV systems at the enterprise level, coordinating technical approaches, and creating a systematic basis for greenhouse gas emission accounting.
