The American regulator issued a directive requiring a 'detailed inspection of the rail fittings for each passenger seat assembly, on both the left and right sides,' aiming to confirm if the assembly was performed correctly.
Risks Associated with the Defect
The US entity warned that if this failure is not corrected, the seat could detach from the guides under adverse conditions, such as increased load, turbulence, or during an emergency landing. This situation implies a risk of injury to crew or passengers, in addition to potentially obstructing a corridor and consequently delaying evacuation.
Global Impact and Boeing's Response
It has not yet been determined whether operators of this model in other parts of the world will be affected, although regulators in other markets tend to follow the FAA's example, as reported by Bloomberg. In response, Boeing stated in a release that it had already provided guidance to operators on this issue in December 2025 and expressed support for the regulator to make these guidelines mandatory.
Company Financial Results
Additionally, Boeing disclosed that it recorded a net loss of $435 million (approximately 381 million euros) in the first half, which represents an improvement compared to the negative 643 million euros recorded in the same period of 2025. In the first six months of the year, Boeing's revenue grew from $4.532 billion (about 3.979 billion euros) in the same period of 2025, reaching $46.777 billion (about 41.072 billion euros).
