In Faryab province, located in northwestern Afghanistan, the implementation of the joint 'Garden of Friendship' project started on July 28. This project is being implemented with the participation of Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agency for Agro-industrial Development under the ministry.
Visit and Project Goals
The launch of the project took place during a visit by an official government delegation from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan. The facility is planned to be created on an area of 60 hectares in the Khan-Charbag district. The main objectives include planting 40 thousand fruit saplings, introducing a drip irrigation system, and constructing a reservoir with a volume of 8,000 cubic meters to ensure stable water supply for the irrigation system.
Participation and Cooperation Prospects
The ceremony of laying the first stone of the garden was attended by Sardor Koishibaev, chief specialist of the Agency for Agro-industrial Development, as well as representatives of the leadership of Faryab province and the Khan-Charbag district. The Agency emphasized that this project will serve as a stimulus for implementing advanced horticultural methods, increasing fruit production volumes, and strengthening partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
Furthermore, it was previously reported that the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, is studying the option of purchasing agricultural products from Afghanistan to maintain price stability in local markets.
