A survey conducted by Data OLX Autos revealed that Artificial Intelligence (AI) already influences the car purchasing decision of 82% of Brazilian consumers. The study also indicates that 62% of respondents consider this technology relevant during the vehicle search process.
Main applications of AI in purchasing
Among the most used AI functionalities in the vehicle acquisition journey are price evaluation, virtual inspection, and personalized suggestion offering. The survey was carried out with 408 OLX users who intended to buy a car between April 1st and April 30th, 2026.
Consumer expectations
The main expectation of buyers is to use AI to verify if the advertised price corresponds to the market value. This functionality was mentioned by 68% of participants, who await algorithms capable of determining whether the requested value is above or below the real transaction history and the appreciation of the model.
Additionally, transparency is a highly valued factor. For 60% of those involved, AI can assist through virtual inspection, using image analysis to detect wear, paint touch-ups, and any inconsistencies in the condition of the advertised vehicle.
Data crossing and preferences
Another important feature considered is the ability to cross-reference information related to the vehicle's history. Forty-eight percent of respondents cited the possibility of consulting data on claims, maintenance performed, and participation in auctions. Meanwhile, 38% pointed to automatic comparison between similar models, covering maintenance costs and technical specifications, as a differential advantage.
When asked about desired functionalities, 68% expressed a desire to receive vehicle recommendations aligned with their profile and usage pattern. Furthermore, 53% showed interest in conducting searches using natural language, while 49% would like to automatically compare the pros and cons of different models.
Technology acceptance
The research also showed that technology acceptance is higher among those who already own a car. In this segment, 88% stated they see value in using Artificial Intelligence when looking for the next vehicle. This suggests a trend toward consolidating the technology as support in the choice, evaluation, and negotiation of used and semi-new cars on digital platforms.
