The opening of the national 'Made in Uzbekistan' showroom in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, marks an important step towards expanding Uzbekistan's export potential, promoting national brands on the international stage, and opening new markets for local producers.
As part of the visit to the Czech Republic, organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Czech Republic, a series of important meetings and negotiations took place under the leadership of a delegation headed by Akmal Zhumanazarov, Director of the Agency for Technical Regulation. The delegation held discussions with the management of the Czech Metrology and Standardization Office (UNMZ), the Czech Institute of Metrology (SMI), and the Institute of Building Technical and Testing Works (TZÚS).
The meetings included detailed discussions on topics such as reducing trade technical barriers, improving product quality to meet international standards, strengthening cooperation in metrology and standardization, implementing experience from European Union market control, and developing scientific and innovative interaction using artificial intelligence technologies.
Another significant outcome of the trip was the signing of several partnership agreements aimed at enhancing the qualifications of Uzbek specialists in the Czech Republic and expanding cooperation with the Czech Institute of Metrology. This is expected to accelerate the exchange of international experience in this field.
The national 'Made in Uzbekistan' showroom, which began its operations in the modern business center 'Anděl Park' in Prague, attracted significant interest from local and foreign entrepreneurs and buyers. The goal of this exhibition is to widely present Uzbek products in the European market, increase export volumes, and strengthen direct business ties between local enterprises and the Czech Republic and other European Union member states.
The exhibition features 48 types of exported goods produced by 17 leading enterprises in the country. Most of these belong to sectors such as food products, textiles, building materials, household and industrial goods, and they comply with European market requirements.
According to experts, the launch of the national 'Made in Uzbekistan' showroom in Prague creates a permanent marketing and trade platform for national products. This contributes to expanding the geographical scope of exports, attracting new partners, and strengthening the international authority of the 'Made in Uzbekistan' brand.
The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has decided on measures to develop and support geographical indications. In accordance with this decision, the non-profit organization 'oriGIn Uzbekistan' will be established.
This organization will be founded based on the Tashkent State Law University, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the 'Hunarmand' association. The main functions of 'oriGIn Uzbekistan' include providing free legal and stylistic assistance to business entities when defining and registering geographical indications in the state register.
Furthermore, the organization will engage in raising public awareness about geographical indications, implementing campaigns to promote national geographical indications in foreign countries, as well as analyzing the state of development and legal protection of these indications to propose improvements to current legislation.
'oriGIn Uzbekistan' will assist business entities in forming associations for the use of geographical indications and support them in the processes of commercializing these indications.
The financing of 'oriGIn Uzbekistan's' activities will come from several sources. These include funds allocated by the institutions themselves, charitable donations from individuals and legal entities, as well as funds from international institutions and foreign non-governmental organizations.
Funds allocated by state bodies and organizations within the framework of state social orders are also provided for, in accordance with the law on social partnership, including funds outside the budget of the Ministry of Justice, provided based on contracts. Any other funds not prohibited by law may also serve as a source.
Expenses related to equipping 'oriGIn Uzbekistan' with buildings, computer equipment, and other necessary equipment, as well as its inclusion in the international network of geographical indications 'oriGIn', will be covered by funds from the Development Fund of Ministries and Institutions outside the budget, as well as funds outside the budget of the Ministry of Justice.
Costs for maintaining the buildings where 'oriGIn Uzbekistan' is located (utilities, routine repairs, etc.) will be financed by funds allocated by the institutions and other sources.
It should be noted that previously, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-358 dated November 27, 2025, on stimulating intellectual activity and expanding the implementation of modern ICT in this field, the creation of a non-profit organization similar to 'oriGIn Uzbekistan' was planned. The main goal of this institution was to develop and promote geographical indications, including their promotion in foreign countries and commercialization, as well as to provide legal and stylistic assistance to business entities and artisans.
