According to Saidazim Sharipov, advisor to the director of the New Tashkent Administration, the first residents could potentially begin moving into the residential buildings of New Tashkent as early as 2027. This information was shared in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 television channel.
A total of 20,000 hectares of land has been allocated for the development of New Tashkent, with the first phase of construction covering 6,000 hectares. Construction work began in 2024, and over the past two years, most of the territory of the first phase has been developed.
Initial efforts were mainly focused on laying underground engineering infrastructure. Currently, the construction of the first physical facilities is being completed. In particular, the construction of the campuses of the University of New Uzbekistan and the Nazimi National Pedagogical University, as well as a new building for the National Library of Uzbekistan, is nearing completion.
Sharipov noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev regularly visits the construction site, paying close attention to ensuring that future buildings are convenient for those who will live in them. Simultaneously, active work is underway on a new stadium, which is intended to host matches of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2027. According to Sharipov, the construction of this stadium is also planned to be completed next year.
The authorities of Tashkent plan to hold auctions for 35 markets, trade complexes, and their branches. Both significant city markets and smaller trading venues will be put up for open electronic auctions.
Among the objects that will go through the auction are Urikzor, Parkent Market, 'Aviasozlar' market (KadySheva), Yangiabad market, Farhad Market, Beshkurgan, as well as other venues. This decision was formalized in a decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concerning measures for the socio-economic development of Tashkent for the period 2026–2027.
The general list includes markets such as Navruz, Sergely, Kuylyuksky, and Karakamyshsky, as well as the used car and spare parts market in Sergeli, in addition to numerous branches of large markets in the capital. Before any object is put up for sale, both a master plan and a business project will be developed for it. One of the key requirements for the sale is the obligation to create modern eco-markets, as well as trade-service and entertainment complexes, including multi-level parking lots, on the sites of the sold objects. Furthermore, the document allows for the possibility of putting other food, goods, and specialized markets of Tashkent, their branches, and vacant territories up for open tender. Decisions on this matter will be made by the Cabinet of Ministers based on proposals from the capital's hokimiyat and the State Assets Management Agency.
The President signed an official decree concerning additional measures for the socio-economic development of the city of Tashkent for the period 2026–2027. This document provides for the implementation of a number of urban planning innovations and experimental projects that will be realized in the capital by January 1, 2031.
To unlock the production capabilities of each district of Tashkent, the Hokim decided to allocate land plots in the territories of special and industrial zones. This will ensure the possibility of attracting new investment projects and connecting various districts with large industrial facilities.

Residents of certain districts of Tashkent may face temporary interruptions in electricity supply today, July 20. The reason for these outages is the commissioning process of a new autotransformer at the 'Ozodlik' substation.
According to information provided by the branch of 'Tashkent City Main Power Grids,' short-term disruptions in electricity supply may occur in parts of the Almazarsky, Chilanzarsky, Uchtepinsky, and Yakkasaraysky districts of the capital.
Company specialists confirmed that all work being carried out complies with established safety standards. After the completion of technical work, electricity supply is planned to be restored to normal operation as soon as possible. The energy company apologized to residents for any inconvenience and thanked consumers for their patience and understanding.
