The Council of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, at a meeting held on July 29, 2026, decided to keep the main policy rate unchanged at 14% per annum.
According to the regulator's data, annual inflation in June was 6.4%, while core inflation remained at 5.7%. The Central Bank also confirmed previously published macroeconomic forecasts, expecting annual inflation to reach approximately 6.5% by the end of 2026, with economic growth remaining between 7.5% and 8%.
The regulator explained that the short-term acceleration of overall inflation in June was caused by rising prices for coal and energy resources. The Central Bank emphasized that monetary policy will focus on reducing inflation to the target level of 5%, maintaining macroeconomic stability, and preserving the purchasing power of the population.
The next meeting of the Central Bank Council to review the main policy rate is scheduled for September 16, 2026.
The European Central Bank (ECB) decided to keep interest rates without making any changes.
