During his stay in China, Italian artist Matteo Montani studied the relationship between artificial intelligence and art. His solo exhibition, titled 'Lifeline,' is currently being held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Southern China, where each piece demonstrates innovative technique and unique spontaneity.
Montani stated that his visit to China was dedicated precisely to this research. He first visited the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, where Professor Luo Baoquan gave him a tour of the Human Factors Engineering Laboratory. Following the professor's advice, Montani went to the Guangzhou Museum of Art, where he saw an immersive AI-generated painting titled 'Four Seasons of Linnan.'
The painting 'Four Seasons of Linnan' was not hand-painted but was formed by a large AI model based on a dataset including over 2000 paintings from the Linnan school. Clouds and mist gently drift across the screen, and the leaves and banana foliage appear alive. Immersing himself in the painting, Montani observed the seasons changing before him.
He noted that this line connecting nature and the future is universal and transcends time. Continuing his journey south, Montani met artist Victor Wong in Hong Kong. Wong shared that artists have always sought the 'secret recipe' of their mastery, and his personal secret is a robotic arm.
In Shenzhen, Montani met a robot named Xiaoci and asked where he could learn more about AI and art. Xiaoci recommended visiting the exhibition 'Two AIs: An Exhibition of Art and Artificial Intelligence.' Chen Yunjia, executive curator and lecturer at the China Academy of Arts, welcomed Montani and introduced the exhibition, stating that art and design open up new possibilities for perceiving the world and exploring unknown areas, and that AI can offer more options for such critical thinking.
The trip changed Montani's perspective. He shared his reflections, saying that he has only experienced a small part of what AI systems can offer the world, but he is grateful for the experience because he was able to feel it, and is now ready to move forward.
According to The Art Newspaper, a unique historical relic was stolen from the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais – Trésor de Vix museum, located in the town of Châtillon-sur-Seine, France.
Two masked individuals smashed a display case in front of other visitors and stole the valuable pearl. This item, found in the tomb of a Celtic queen known as 'Dame de Vix,' was discovered in 1953 and is approximately 2500 years old.
This gold pearl, weighing between 450 and 480 grams, is considered one of the rarest archaeological finds related to Celtic culture. The criminals also stole other valuable items from the museum.
