99Compras has officially started its activities in the city of São Paulo, making it possible to purchase supermarket products and various other categories through the 99 application. This service is already available in approximately 20 municipalities in the São Paulo metropolitan area and positions itself as a direct competitor to platforms such as iFood and Amazon Now.
The formal launch took place on Tuesday, July 28th. In addition to the capital, the service reaches neighboring cities such as Barueri, Carapicuíba, Itaquaquecetuba, and Mauá. Although 99Compras was introduced in April of this year with a pilot phase in Goiânia (GO), its consolidation is marked by its arrival in the São Paulo capital and surrounding cities, due to the high population concentration of the region.
The platform is not limited to supermarket items; it allows users to purchase products from pharmacies, pet shops, florists, and household goods. To support this variety, 99Compras mobilizes a network composed of over 3,000 commercial partners, including major names such as Americanas, Atacadão, Carrefour, Cobasi, Nissei, Petz, and Ultrafarma.
Additionally, the service has about 200,000 registered delivery drivers, offering flexibility for immediate or scheduled delivery. Talita Poleto, Commercial Director of 99Compras, emphasized the goal of offering a unique experience combining competitive prices, convenience, logistical excellence, and differentiation in a single platform.
The entry of 99Compras intensifies competition in the mobile purchasing market in the region. It competes with iFood, which also offers supermarket purchases and related items, and with Amazon Now, which began operating in São Paulo in March with a similar proposal. To boost adoption in the capital and surroundings, 99 is promoting discount coupons of up to R$ 99 and offering free shipping on the first two orders.
Due to a serious failure that paralyzed three subway lines in the capital city of São Paulo, the Traffic Engineering Company (CET) temporarily suspended vehicle restrictions, but only in the East Zone, during the morning of Thursday, July 23rd.
The decision was made after a small fire occurred on a train between the Brás and Tatuapé stations. This incident affected Lines 11-Coral, 12-Sapphire, and 13-Jade, which are operated by the concessionaire Trivia Trens. The Fire Department was called around 5:38 AM, forcing many passengers to disembark and walk along the tracks during the night near Tatuapé.
The suspension of the restriction applies exclusively to the morning and covers only the roads located in the East Zone. These roads include Salim Farah Maluf Avenue, Celso Garcia Avenue, Radial Leste, Estado Avenue, and Luiz Inácio de Anhaia Mello Avenue, as well as Marginal Tietê up to the Central region. During this exception, no driver will be fined on the mentioned stretches.
Outside of this specific situation, the restriction maintains its regular operation in the rest of the city. As established by CET, the restriction occurs from Monday to Friday, during the hours of 7 AM to 10 AM and 5 PM to 8 PM, within the Expanded Center area. On this specific Thursday, vehicles with license plates ending in 7 and 8 remain off the road. Non-compliance with the standard rule implies a fine of R$ 130.16 and the addition of four points to the license, with the driver potentially being ticketed twice on the same day.
This problem is not unprecedented, as this was the third day of Trivia Trens operating on these lines, and also the third day with recorded problematic occurrences.
