Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation from Saudi Arabia, headed by Minister of Health Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jaladjel, on July 28. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of medical cooperation and prepare for the launch of new joint projects.
At the beginning of the negotiations, the minister conveyed greetings and best wishes to the Uzbek President from the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as from the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
The parties noted the active development of bilateral interaction in recent years. The successful implementation of major joint projects with the Saudi company ACWA was emphasized.
During the visit, discussions were also held with leaders of leading Saudi companies, which led to the conclusion of relevant agreements. The main focus of the meeting was on the digitalization and modernization of Uzbekistan's healthcare system, the regulation of the pharmaceutical sector, and the training of qualified specialists. Additionally, the construction of a multi-profile clinic in Uzbekistan was discussed.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to develop and adopt a 'roadmap' that will define the plan for implementing new initiatives and joint projects.
Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have reached an agreement to expand practical interaction in the field of pharmaceuticals. This cooperation will cover investments, joint projects, technology transfer, and the production of modern medicinal products.
The memorandum was signed during the visit of the Saudi delegation to Uzbekistan. The delegation was headed by Minister of Health Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jaladjel. During this visit, a Uzbek-Saudi business dialogue took place, as well as a round table with the participation of representatives from state bodies, medical institutions, and the private sector.
The Director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, Abdullo Azizov, presented the Saudi side with information about the current reforms in Uzbekistan. These reforms are aimed at modernizing the pharmaceutical industry, developing high value-added production, attracting foreign investment, and increasing the country's export potential.
Participants were also introduced to the pharmaceutical innovation group BioPharma City. This project envisions the creation of infrastructure for scientific research, innovative production, biotechnological development, and international cooperation.
The agreement allows for cooperation not only in the field of pharmaceuticals but also in other areas of medicine. The parties plan to develop investment partnerships, implement joint initiatives, carry out technology transfer, and establish the production of modern medications. Bilateral meetings and negotiations between representatives of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia continue within the framework of the official visit of the Saudi delegation.
Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia held a meeting to discuss several new projects in the field of healthcare. The discussed initiatives include the construction of a medical complex in Fergana, localization of pharmaceutical production, development of telemedicine, and implementation of digital solutions.
The meeting took place on July 27 in the format of a round table with the participation of representatives from both countries. From Uzbekistan, Tamila Aliyeva, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Healthcare Reform, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev, heads of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as representatives of major medical centers were present. The delegation from Saudi Arabia was headed by Minister of Health Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jaladjel.
One of the central projects is the construction of a modern multi-profile hospital with 800 beds in Fergana with the participation of Vision International Investment Company. This facility is envisioned as the basis for the Fergana Plus medical city, which will include educational and medical centers, as well as a hotel complex.
In the pharmaceutical sector, joint localization of production is planned with Jamjoom Pharma and Sudair Pharma. Cooperation with SEHA Virtual Hospital will focus on virtual healthcare and telemedicine. Together with Lean Business Services, the parties intend to implement artificial intelligence and digital healthcare solutions.
Furthermore, with the assistance of Health Holding, an increase in the efficiency of managing medical institutions is planned. Support from NUPCO will be directed towards developing centralized procurement and medical logistics. Another area of cooperation will be the medical insurance system, as Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia are considering the possibility of jointly implementing modern insurance mechanisms with the Saudi National Center for Medical Insurance.
At the conclusion of the round table, participants expressed confidence that the implementation of the intended projects and initiatives will contribute to improving the quality and accessibility of medical services for the population.
The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Eldor Adilov, met with the Iranian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Mohammadali Iskandari, to discuss prospects for deepening bilateral interaction in the field of healthcare.
During the meeting, both sides noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran has been steadily growing in recent years due to agreements reached by the leadership of the two countries. This progress was achieved through closer interaction between the ministries of health, specialized medical centers, and higher educational institutions.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening ties between leading medical institutions. Opportunities were discussed for launching joint programs in areas such as cardiothoracic surgery, transplantation, oncology, as well as providing high-tech medical care.
Participants also reviewed the potential for joint investment projects related to the production of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. At the conclusion of the negotiations, both sides expressed confidence that healthcare cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran will reach a new level in the near future.
