In Uzbekistan, the necessary calculations for transitioning 1,916 settlements to electric heating must be prepared within three months, as access to natural gas is limited in these areas.
Presidential instruction and project implementation
This directive was issued at a meeting dedicated to the development of the fuel and energy sector, which took place with the participation of the president. Responsible agencies must determine the volume of additional electricity and the energy infrastructure required to implement this project. A separate plan will be drawn up for those settlements requiring state support.
Gas supply issues
The same meeting also addressed the issue of supplying the population with liquefied gas. Currently, about 3.7 million households use this type of fuel. Despite the introduction of digital systems, the problem of prompt fuel delivery remains unresolved. In this regard, a proposal to involve the private sector in the liquefied gas supply process was approved. A pilot project for this initiative is planned to begin in the Andijan region.
Personnel changes in the industry
Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev explained the reasons for recent personnel changes in the energy sector. He stated that the Minister of Energy and the head of 'Regional Electric Networks' were removed from their positions due to serious shortcomings identified in the system's functioning.
