The team Virtus.pro was crowned champion of the PUBG: Battlegrounds tournament held at the Esports World Cup 2026. By overcoming 16 other teams in the final stage, the organization maintained its lead throughout the competition, concluding its participation with a total of 159 points after three days of competition.
Prizes and Overall Standings
In addition to the main title, Virtus.pro received a prize of US$ 650 thousand and accumulated 1,000 points designated for the Club Championship, raising its overall total to 1,950 points in the competition standings.
Group Stage Performance
Virtus.pro's journey started strong in the group stage, securing its passage to the final after demonstrating dominance in the matchups between Groups A and C. A notable milestone occurred in the first match of the second day, where the team achieved a Chicken Dinner and registered 17 eliminations, the highest number recorded in a single match during that stage of the tournament.
Dominance on Day One
The team capitalized on the good momentum to advance to the finals and demonstrated superiority on the first day of competitions. Initially, Virtus.pro secured two consecutive second places, accumulating 16 eliminations, and later secured two Chicken Dinners in matches 4 and 6. In one of these matches, 15 eliminations were recorded, setting the highest individual mark in a single match during the finals. At the end of this first day, the team led with 91 points, creating a significant advantage over its opponents.
Reactions and Recovery on Day Two
On the second day, opponents such as Team Falcons, Natus Vincere, and The Vicious Esports managed to restrict Virtus.pro's performance for a large part of the round. Despite not finishing among the top ten in the first five matches of the day, the team managed to recover at a crucial moment. In the final match of that day, Virtus.pro achieved another Chicken Dinner with 14 eliminations, reaching 126 points and increasing its lead to almost 30 points ahead of competitors. This result consolidated the Match Point at 136 points.
Title Confirmation
Virtus.pro reached the Match Point in the very first match of the last day of play. From that point on, the other teams had to prevent the leader from achieving another Chicken Dinner to keep their title chances alive. Although Natus Vincere managed to narrow the gap, by the end of the 17th match, Virtus.pro already had 157 points, while no rival had surpassed the mark of 126. Even though it was eliminated early in the final confrontation, the team concluded the competition with 159 points, enough to confirm the title.
MVP and Podium
Player Nino “NIXZYEE” Mikec, belonging to Virtus.pro, was named Sony MVP of the event. During the tournament, he accumulated 33 eliminations and 32 knockdowns, receiving an individual prize of US$ 25 thousand. After receiving the award, he expressed the team's campaign with the phrase: “The effort is worth it.”
Final Podium Positions
The fight for the remaining podium positions remained open until the final match. The Vicious Esports moved up from sixth to second place due to its performance in the last match, securing US$ 300 thousand and 750 points in the Club Championship. Natus Vincere finished in third place, which earned it US$ 200 thousand and maintained the Club Championship lead, now with 2,250 points. Team Falcons occupied fourth place, and Team Vitality completed the Top 5.
