The International Federation of Football (FIFA) has concluded the process of determining the most impressive goal scored at the 2026 World Cup. The captain of the Uzbekistan national team, Eldor Shomurodov, received second place in this vote.
Winner of the Nomination
The award for the best goal went to Cape Verde defender Sydney Lopes Cabral. He scored his outstanding goal in the Round of 16 match against Argentina. This shot was aimed at the top corner of the goal defended by Emiliano Martinez from a corner kick in extra time.
Shomurodov's Achievements
Eldor Shomurodov came in second place after Cabral. The forward of the Uzbekistan national team scored in the group stage match against DR Congo with a score of 1:3. His precise shot, which occurred in the tenth minute of the match, was skillfully directed over the opponent's goalkeeper from a sharp angle and was subsequently recognized as the best goal of the tournament's group stage.
