Actress Tracee Ellis Ross has shared details of her solo travel experiences. Following the successful debut three-season cycle of 'Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross,' which earned her a nomination for the 2026 Daytime Emmy for her travel and adventure program, she continues to share her adventures on social media.
New Itinerary and Travel Philosophy
During a recent appearance on 'Today,' the actress, who is currently filming the Broadway play 'Every Brilliant Thing,' spoke about her deep love for travel and what viewers can expect from the second season. Her new itinerary includes destinations such as Thailand, Switzerland, and Australia, following the first season where she explored Morocco, Mexico, and Spain.
Ross noted that her show is more than just beautiful trips; it is an opportunity to learn how to enjoy one's own company. She stated that she has been traveling alone since she was 24 or 25 because she has always loved spending time alone with herself, asking herself, 'Can you be yourself in the world?' This, she said, is time for relaxation, wandering, and reflection.
Adventures in Asia and Australia
In the second season, the actress expands her horizons. In Thailand, she spent time with elephants, calling it an incredible experience, noting that the sounds of Thailand, the food, and everything else were amazing. She then traveled to Australia, where she went surfing, although she is unsure if she will do it again.
Furthermore, the actress aimed to dispel the myth that solo travel is only for single people. She emphasized that it suits everyone and depends on the type of solo travel one wishes to undertake. Her main message is not to postpone life and to do what one wants.
Luggage Approach and Tour Details
Most of the content for her show is filmed directly on a mobile phone. Regarding luggage, she adheres to the controversial 'BIA' (Bring It All) philosophy, acknowledging that she prepares for all possible situations. However, for regular travelers who need to adhere to standard weight restrictions, efficient packing is a more sensible option, although the decision to cover extra baggage fees remains a personal preference.
As part of the second season, she visited Melbourne in Australia, where she was charmed by the city's dynamic energy. She immersed herself in the restaurant scene, which combines the atmosphere of Los Angeles and New York. Her trip was supplemented by a private tour of a fashion exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, dedicated to Vivienne Westwood and Rei Kawakubo. She also traveled to the Surf Coast of Australia to catch waves and visited the Yarra Valley, where she met winemakers and tasted local products.
In Gstaad, Switzerland, she returned to the snowy slopes, recalling her first encounter with the Swiss Alps as a teenager. This experience focuses on embracing spontaneity and living in the present moment.
In Thailand, besides interacting with Asian elephants at the Antara Golden Triangle Resort in the jungles of Northern Thailand, she also visited the White Temple in Chiang Rai, took culinary lessons in making favorite Thai dishes, and dined high up in the jungle with a beautiful view.
