The state-owned company Coal India is expected to show moderate profit growth in the first quarter (Q1FY27). Analysts note that the company's performance is influenced by declining shipment volumes, weakening premium electricity prices, and increased operating expenses.
According to Kotak Institutional Equities, CIL's net profit may decrease by 10.7% year-on-year (Y-o-Y), amounting to ₹7,802.6 crore, while revenue is expected to grow by 1.4% to ₹32,333.2 crore, as reported by Business Standard.
Meanwhile, the brokerage firm Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOFSL) forecasts a 6% rise in Coal India's Profit After Tax (PAT) to ₹9,330 crore in the first quarter. MOFSL also expects the company's net sales to jump by 22.6% in Q1 FY27, reaching ₹43,930 crore.
Modest shipments of 198 million tonnes (a 3.5% Y-o-Y increase) in Q1 FY27 are expected to impact quarterly profits. The brokerage firm anticipates an average realization of ₹1,635 per tonne (a 2% Y-o-Y decrease) in Q1 FY27, with realization at electronic auctions set at ₹2,400 per tonne.
Private lender IDFC First Bank reported a record quarterly Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹1,075 crore in Q1FY27, which is 132.4% higher compared to ₹463 crore the previous year. The bank's customer business grew by 18.6% to ₹604,776 crore as of June 30, 2026, compared to ₹510,031 crore on June 30, 2025.
AU Small Finance Bank reported a 37% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹796 crore in Q1FY27. However, the bank's net profit sequentially decreased by 4%. The private lender's Net Interest Income (NII) rose by 32% year-on-year to ₹2,695 crore in the first quarter, supported by healthy loan growth. The bank's other income decreased by 15% year-on-year to ₹689 crore.
Indian stock indices are likely to open on a positive note today, as the US and Iran suspended attacks for the second consecutive day on Sunday amid ongoing efforts to bring the countries back to negotiations. As of 7:35 AM, GIFT Nifty was trading up 131 points, or 0.51%, at 23,956.

The public sector bank Union Bank of India reported a 29.5% year-on-year increase in net profit for the quarter ending April-June. This profit amounted to 5,332 crore rupees compared to 4,116 crore rupees in the same period last year. The growth was attributed to a confident increase in core income and a reduction in operating expenses.
The bank's Net Interest Income (NII) increased by 10.1% year-on-year, reaching 10,037 crore rupees in the first quarter of FY2026-27, compared to 9,113 crore rupees the previous year. The Net Interest Margin (NIM) improved to 2.80% from 2.76% in the quarter a year ago. Non-interest income grew by 2.6% year-on-year to 4,603 crore rupees for the June quarter, whereas it was 4,486 crore rupees the previous year. However, this figure decreased by 15% compared to the 5,412 crore rupees reported in the March quarter.

HCLTech reported a 20.3% year-on-year increase in net profit for the first quarter, reaching ₹4,624 crore. Revenue also grew by 13.9% to ₹34,579 crore, surpassing Bloomberg forecasts of ₹4,530 crore and ₹34,327 crore, respectively. The growth was driven by the financial services, manufacturing, and technology and services sectors.
Furthermore, the company announced plans to invest ₹3,500 crore to enter the AI data center market, following the example of competitor TCS, with plans to increase capacity to 50 MW.
