Few could have predicted that a student who scored 54% in the 10th grade would ever reach IIT Bombay. However, Jaynendrit proved that low grades do not define one's destiny; persistent hard work and passion are the deciding factors. Today, he is studying computer science at IIT Bombay. Jaynendrit's story inspires many young people because he managed to get into IIT Bombay despite his low scores in the 10th grade.
Jaynendrit scored only 54% in the 10th grade, with just 41 marks in mathematics and 48 in natural sciences. Nevertheless, his comeback in 2023 surprised everyone. He achieved a score of 99.98% in the JEE Main exam and ranked 349th in the all-India ranking (open category) and 54th in the OBC category in JEE Advanced. He demonstrated that one exam cannot determine a student's future.
After this, he enrolled at IIT Bombay and began his studies. During his time at IIT, he mastered not only academic knowledge but also new practical skills and technologies. In December 2025, he interned at Loop Health in Bangalore as a junior software engineer. Additionally, he completed a summer internship at Kimble. These internships gave him experience applying college knowledge to real engineering projects and tasks, which contributed to advancing his career.
Jaynendrit's story reminds us that school grades do not always reflect a person's ultimate achievements. Although the 10th grade is often seen as an important stage, it is only one step on a long journey. His example shows how determination, consistent preparation, and unwillingness to give up after setbacks can change a student's life trajectory. Today, this same student, who once scored only 54% in the 10th grade, is studying computer science at IIT.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of the Class X second examination for 2026 on Saturday. After combining the results of the main and second examinations, the overall pass percentage was nearly 96.8%.
Meanwhile, the main CBSE examination recorded an overall pass rate of 93.7% for Class X. Approximately 60% of the roughly 3.1 lakh students who took the exam to improve their scores achieved higher grades compared to the main examination results.
Regarding the second examination, in which 1.5 lakh students participated in the supplementary testing category, 78,503 people successfully passed, achieving a pass percentage of 52.4%, which is higher than the approximately 48.7% last year.
Under the new two-exam system for Class X, introduced this year as part of the National Education Policy 2020, the main examination is mandatory, while the second is optional. For regular candidates, the final certificate will reflect the best score obtained in either of the two tests.
Under this new structure, the main examination was held from February 17 to March 11, and the second examination took place from May 15 to May 21.
A CBSE representative noted that students can retain the higher score obtained in both attempts, thereby preventing a situation where the final result is determined by only one exam. The goal of this policy is to encourage competency-based assessment, reduce dependence on expensive testing and tutoring, and ensure greater academic flexibility.
CBSE reported that the results of the second examination are available to students through the DigiLocker portal. Furthermore, school-level results were sent to schools at their registered email addresses, and digital learning materials can be accessed through the CBSE repository using credentials previously provided to the schools.
