Light rains have been observed in various parts of Delhi-NCR in recent days. During the period from July 11 to July 24, about 25 mm of precipitation was recorded in Delhi. Currently, Safdarjung has registered 156.3 mm of rain for July, which is below the annual average of 195.8 mm.
According to the meteorological service Skymet Weather, a western disturbance is active over the hilly regions at upper atmospheric levels. Additionally, due to the influence of a wind shear zone, a low-pressure area has formed over southeastern Rajasthan and adjacent Madhya Pradesh. This has led to the southward shift of the monsoon trough.
Skymet predicts that the monsoon trough will gradually start moving northward. There is a possibility that it will reach the latitude of Delhi by Sunday and remain there for approximately four to five days. Specifically, heavy rains are possible in some parts of Delhi between July 26 and July 28.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), variable cloudiness is expected in Delhi-NCR on Saturday, with light rain possible during the day or evening. The maximum temperature in Delhi is forecasted to be between 35°C and 37°C, and the minimum between 23°C and 25°C. In many places, the minimum temperature may be below normal, while the maximum temperature in most areas of Delhi is likely to be within the normal range.
Rain continues in the Delhi-NCR region as the monsoon season remains active. Cloudy skies are expected on Thursday, and according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light precipitation is possible in several places during the morning and day.
There is also a possibility of light rain in some areas tonight. In Delhi, the maximum temperature may range from 32°C to 34°C, and the minimum from 23°C to 25°C.
According to records, 12 mm of precipitation was registered at the Safdarjung weather station and 18.7 mm at Palm airport on Wednesday. According to Skymet Weather agency forecasts, most weather stations in the city recorded light or moderate rains. The probability of continued rain remains for the coming days, with light or moderate precipitation expected almost daily in Delhi-NCR this week.
Starting from July 26, the monsoon trough will begin to shift northward and may reach the northern part of Delhi by July 28. During this period, moderate or heavy rains may be observed in some areas. Weather forecasts indicate a possible increase in both the intensity and spread of precipitation between July 26 and 28. After this, starting from July 29, a decrease in rainfall activity is expected.
