Actor Ravi Kishan, a star of Bhojpuri cinema and a figure in the Hollywood film industry, shared his opinion on the political life in South India. Commenting on the Southern industry, he stated that actors in South India can be directly appointed as Chief Ministers.
Recently, in an interview with Indian Express, Ravi Kishan answered questions about his most famous work, 'Lapta Ladies'. When asked how he got the role despite Aamir Khan auditioning for the same part, he explained that Aamir himself had auditioned and wanted to play a policeman, even bringing a uniform. However, director Kiran Rao saw him in the film 'Mukkabaaj' and wanted to give him this role.
Kishan mentioned that he received this role after being recently elected as a Member of Parliament. He expressed his enthusiasm about entering parliament. He noted that some of his senior colleagues rarely attended parliamentary sessions, which led to the perception that actors do not take this profession seriously.
The Bhojpuri actor added that he always wished to work as a legislator and enjoyed being present in parliament. He repeated his remark about South India, stating that actors there can be appointed as chief ministers. Although he did not name names, this statement was interpreted as an allusion to Thalapathy Vijay. The source emphasized, however, that they do not confirm this version.
Ravi Kishan also shared details of the casting for 'Lapta Ladies'. He mentioned that due to his commitments as a legislator, he could not find time to meet Kiran Rao, so she had to come to the Bhojpuri actor in Delhi. Kiran Rao began reading the script to him, and Ravi Kishan agreed to act just 45 minutes later.
The BJP MP expressed pride in the film's success. He noted that although he received many awards, the film did not make it into the National Award shortlist, which caused him some regret. The film 'Lapta Ladies' was released in 2023; although it did not have great success in theaters, it became very popular on streaming platforms (OTT).
