Shriram Finance reported a significant increase in net profit in the first quarter of fiscal year 27 (Q1FY27), reaching 34,446 crore rupees, which represents an increase of 59.79% compared to the same period last year. Compared to the previous quarter, profit increased by 14.30%.
The company's Net Interest Income (NII) grew by 33.67% year-on-year and by 15.18% quarter-on-quarter, amounting to 8,055.7 crore rupees. The total income of the Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) increased by 16.21% year-on-year, reaching 13,412.11 crore rupees.
The Net Interest Margin (NIM) improved to 9.04%, up from 8.61% in Q4FY26 and 8.11% in Q1FY26.
The NBFC's Assets Under Management (AUM) expanded by 15.26% year-on-year and by 3.8% quarter-on-quarter, reaching 3.14 trillion rupees. Among the commercial vehicle segments, AUM grew by 19.4% year-on-year and by 3.8% quarter-on-quarter, totaling 1.47 trillion rupees. Passenger vehicle AUM showed growth of 21.22% year-on-year, reaching 68,650.2 crore rupees.
Furthermore, AUM in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) segment increased by 8% year-on-year to 41,962.4 crore rupees, while AUM in the gold segment grew by 45.78% year-on-year, amounting to 7,513.72 crore rupees.
The volume of public deposits attracted by the company increased by 14.3% year-on-year to 72,070 crore rupees. Funds raised through Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) rose by almost 20% year-on-year, reaching 39,610 crore rupees.
The company's asset quality remained relatively stable during June. The proportion of Stage 3 assets slightly increased to 4.64% from 4.58% in March. Net Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) remained unchanged at 2.33% compared to the previous quarter.
The overall Capital to Risk-weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) improved to 34.17% in the reporting quarter, compared to 20.40% in Q4FY26 and 20.79% in Q1FY26.
Nestle India, a major player in the FMCG sector, reported significant growth in its figures for the June quarter of the current fiscal year. The company recorded a year-on-year growth in consolidated net profit of 48.26 percent, reaching ₹958.68 crore.
According to regulatory filings, in the corresponding period last fiscal year, the company showed a consolidated net profit of ₹646.59 crore. In the first quarter of FY27, Nestle India's revenue from product sales increased by 25.4 percent, amounting to ₹6,363.27 crore, compared to ₹5,073.96 crore the previous year.
Manish Tiwari, Chairman and CEO, noted that the strong quarter was driven by a 25.4 percent sales increase, which was attributed to higher sales volumes. He emphasized that sustained consumer trust in the company's brands and focus on execution allowed these results to be achieved. Despite ongoing geopolitical difficulties, exports demonstrated a growth of 35.6 percent.
Nestle India's total revenue in the first quarter of FY27 reached ₹6,400.65 crore, which is 25.5 percent higher than the figure in the same period last year (₹5,100.33 crore). Meanwhile, the company's total expenses in the quarter under review increased by 20.71 percent, totaling ₹5,070.03 crore.
Nestle India's domestic sales grew by 25 percent, reaching ₹6,073.05 crore in the June quarter of FY27, compared to ₹4,860.01 crore in the previous fiscal year. The company's export revenue increased by 35.64 percent, amounting to ₹290.22 crore. Nestle India's earnings report indicated that all four product groups showed confident double-digit growth, supported by high double-digit growth across all channels.
According to Tiwari, during the quarter, Nestle India continued to accelerate operational cost savings and increase investments in its brands, with advertising expenses rising by more than 40 percent. The EBITDA margin stood at 24.2 percent. At the same time, Nestle India shares were trading on BSE in the morning at ₹1,497.80, which was 3.08 percent higher than the previous day's close.
The public sector lender Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) reported a significant increase in net profit of 49.3 percent year-on-year on Monday. Over the three months ending in June 2026, the bank earned 1,659 crore rupees, which was attributed to an improvement in asset quality.
In the same quarter last year, the bank had recorded a net profit of 1,111 crore rupees. According to the report submitted to the stock exchange system, total income for the period from April to June increased to 10,938 crore rupees compared to 8,866.47 crore rupees the previous year.
The bank's asset quality showed positive momentum. The Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) ratio decreased to 1.33 percent for the June quarter of fiscal year 27, down from 1.97 percent the previous year. Similarly, Net NPA reduced to 0.18 percent from the previous 0.32 percent.
Furthermore, provisions amounted to 834 crore rupees in the quarter under review, which remained almost unchanged compared to 844 crore rupees the previous year, although this is less than the 1,006 crore rupees recorded in the March quarter. At the time of afternoon trading, IOB shares were trading 4.11 percent higher on the BSE, reaching the mark of 35.2 rupees.
Jana Small Finance Bank reported a significant increase in net profit for the first quarter of fiscal year 27. During the reporting period from April to June, the bank demonstrated a 52% growth in net profit compared to the same period last year, reaching 155 crore rupees. This success was attributed to a strong increase in net interest income, active growth in the loan portfolio, and expansion of the secured loan portfolio.
Net Interest Income (NII) increased by 33.4% year-on-year, amounting to 782 crore rupees. Meanwhile, other incomes slightly decreased, falling to 215 crore rupees from 235 crore rupees the previous year. The bank's Net Interest Margin (NIM) consistently rose by 30 basis points, reaching 7.5% in the first quarter of FY27.
Provisions and unforeseen expenses slightly decreased to 178 crore rupees in Q1 FY27, compared to 187 crore rupees the previous year and 195 crore rupees in Q4 FY26. Write-offs also decreased sequentially by 13%, totaling 291 crore rupees.
The volume of loans disbursed increased by 26% year-on-year and 4% sequentially, reaching 37,612 crore rupees. The secured portfolio grew by 29% year-on-year and 4% sequentially. The gold loan segment showed the fastest growth, increasing by 113% year-on-year, followed by auto loans, which grew by 78%. Growth in the affordable housing segment reached 29%, and MSME loans grew by 27%. Conversely, the growth of the Loan Against Property (LAP) microloan portfolio slowed to 5% year-on-year.
Currently, the secured portfolio accounts for almost 73% of the total outstanding loans. Meanwhile, the unsecured portfolio grew by 18% year-on-year and 3% sequentially, reaching 10,240 crore rupees. Deposits, in turn, increased by 22% year-on-year, totaling 35,756 crore rupees.
For fiscal year 27, the bank forecasts asset growth of 19–21%, deposit growth of 23–25%, and profit increase of over 80%. The bank also clarified that Jana Holdings and Jana Capital, the current promoters, were classified as being in technical default on the payments of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCD) after extending the maturity of these instruments by six months to provide additional time to sell their stake.
Jana Holdings' stake in the bank decreased from a peak of 44% to 16.9%. Both Jana Holdings and Jana Capital plan to seek approval for de-promoterization from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) once their stake falls below 9.99%. It was noted that Jana Holdings has not injected capital into the bank since June 2022, has no representation on the bank's board of directors, and there are no cross-holdings between the entities. The bank also assured that there is no cross-default link between the debt of Jana Small Finance Bank and the debt of Jana Holdings or Jana Capital. Although India Ratings placed the bank under 'watch' following actions against Jana Holdings and Jana Capital, the bank stated that operations continue as usual. Meanwhile, CARE Ratings confirmed the bank's rating without any changes.
