Jetour introduced three models focused on adventurous concepts in Brazil in 2026. However, the fact that all of them featured front-wheel drive generated criticism from the public. This issue was resolved with the launch of the T2 XWD, which offers all-wheel drive and is designed for good performance on trails.
Model Positioning and Price
This new model occupies the top-of-the-line position for the brand, with a listed price of R$ 349,900. For the first 599 buyers, the price will be R$ 339,900. In addition to four-wheel drive and greater power, the Jetour T2 XWD incorporates extra features compared to the Premium 4x2 version, such as an electric footrest for the passenger seat and black headliner.
Hybrid System Specifications
The vehicle's hybrid system has been enhanced with a 43.2 kWh battery, allowing it to travel up to 106 km in purely electric mode, according to Inmetro methodology. It supports fast DC charging. In terms of consumption, the car records 10.5 km/l in the city and 9.3 km/l on the highway.
T2 XWD Engine Details
The technical specifications of the Jetour T2 XWD are detailed, utilizing a 1.5 turbo combustion engine along with two electric motors for the front axle and a dedicated electric motor on the rear axle. The individual powers are: 1.5 turbo engine with 135 hp and 20.4 kgfm; Front electric motor 1 with 102 hp and 17.3 kgfm; Front electric motor 2 with 122 hp and 22.4 kgfm; and Rear electric motor with 238 hp and 31.5 kgfm.
The 1.5 gasoline turbo engine operates with direct injection and follows the Miller cycle to optimize efficiency. The three front motors work together with a three-speed DHT gearbox, identical to those in the 4x2 version. Jetour announces a total power of 597 hp and 91.7 kgfm of torque, resulting from the direct sum of all four motors. The brand justifies this sum due to the absence of a Brazilian technical standard for disclosing power in electrified vehicles. However, the company clarifies that the driver will not experience these peaks simultaneously, as each motor reaches its maximum at different regimes.
Comparison with Other Models
Recently, Quatro Rodas reported that Jaecoo, belonging to the Chery group along with Jetour, changed the power calculation of the J7. Like Jetour, Jaecoo used to sum the values, but now adopts a more realistic UN standard, which resulted in the reduction of horsepower from 339 hp to 279 hp and torque from 52 kgfm to 37 kgfm.
Advanced Off-Road Features
The rear motor is connected to a differential equipped with mechanical locking, which the driver can activate on difficult terrain to ensure both wheels rotate together. The electronic system offers eight driving modes: normal, eco, sport, rock, sand, snow, mud, and X. Mode X is an intelligent feature that assesses driving conditions in real time, automatically adjusting parameters.
Additionally, the Jetour T2 XWD has the tank turn function, which works by braking the inner rear wheel to reduce the turning radius. This function can only be used in one of the off-road modes. The vehicle has a ground clearance capability of 70 cm and a real-time flooding gauge to monitor depth. Its specifications include an approach angle of 28°, departure angle of 30°, and ground clearance of 20.5 cm.
Rivalry and Driving Dynamics
Jetour positions this model as a direct competitor to the GWM Tank 300, which features a body-on-frame chassis, conventional 4x4 drive with transfer case, low range, and a rigid rear axle. In contrast, the differential of the Jetour T2 XWD is closer to a passenger car due to its unibody structure.
Weighing 2,362 kg, the Jetour T2 XWD is a robust vehicle, a factor partially explained by the battery similar to that of an electric hatchback and the four motors. However, the immediate torque delivery of the electric motors compensates for this mass, providing agile acceleration and overtaking, even in Eco mode. It is observed that, in common use, the rear motor is the most active, while the 1.5 turbo acts mainly as a generator, providing little power to the wheels, except in Sport mode, when both axles are continuously driven.
The high weight makes the car's behavior in curves noticeable, given that it is tall and has soft suspension, which can cause swaying on uneven surfaces. This adjustment seems to have been made to prioritize off-road performance. Tests on dirt roads and trails confirmed the good functioning of the suspension and the effectiveness of the rear differential lock, surpassing systems that only simulate this function through braking. In summary, the Jetour T2 XWD fulfills its promise of offering greater off-road capability, although it faces an already established rival in the market, the GWM Tank 300.
