The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of certain Ford Ranger and Ford Everest vehicles manufactured between 2017 and 2020. This recall is related to transmission problems that may cause a loss of traction while driving.

The recall affects vehicles equipped with the 10R80 transmission and was announced after reports of a potential failure in the transmission fluid pump gear. Such a failure can lead to a reduction in hydraulic pressure within the transmission.
The NCC warns that a malfunction in this gear could cause the vehicle to lose momentum, increasing the likelihood of road traffic accidents while driving.
The vehicles subject to the recall were sold in South Africa between July 11, 2018, and February 28, 2020. Additionally, the affected models were exported to Botswana, Lesotho, and Eswatini.
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to visit the nearest authorized Ford dealership to carry out necessary software updates for the powertrain control modules (PCM) and the transmission control module (TCM). The NCC emphasized that all required repairs will be covered by the manufacturer at no cost to the consumers.

According to NCC representative Fethu Ntaba, the affected vehicles were sold through authorized Nissan and Toyota dealerships nationwide. He added that according to information from Nissan, there is a possibility of the fuel line shifting in its retaining clip in the engine bay during engine operation, which could lead to tube wear and potential fuel leaks.

Nissan is recalling 314 units of the Qashqai. This recall is part of a larger campaign announced on October 23, 2025, which involved the recall of 1,688 vehicles. According to NCC representative Feto Ntaba, the problem is that the fuel line in the engine bay may shift from its retaining clip while the engine is running. This movement can cause wear on the fuel line, potentially leading to perforation and fuel leakage.
Nissan has notified the NCC about implementing a new repair as a permanent solution, supplementing the temporary repair conducted during the previous recall campaign. The affected vehicles were manufactured between May 4, 2021, and September 17, 2024.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX600 models are also subject to recall. Toyota is recalling 507 Land Cruiser 300 vehicles, while Lexus SA Motors Pty (Ltd) is recalling 124 LX600 models. The Land Cruiser vehicles were sold from December 13, 2022, to May 7, 2024, whereas the Lexus models were sold from December 15, 2022, to May 7, 2024, and exported to Botswana and Namibia.
According to the suppliers, both models, Lexus and Land Cruiser, are equipped with the V35A engine, which contains crankshaft main bearings. During a specific production period, residual machining particles may not have been completely removed during manufacturing, leading to contamination of the engine unit.
If manufacturing particles adhere to the main bearings, and the engine continues to operate under increased loads, the bearings may fail. This could trigger engine knocking, uneven engine performance, starting difficulties, or engine shutdown. Engine failure while driving can lead to loss of traction and an increased risk of accidents at high speeds.
Owners of the affected vehicles are strongly advised to visit the nearest authorized Nissan or Toyota dealership for inspection and necessary free repairs.
