Young Uzbek Chess Player Wins Bronze Medal at Asian Championship

Tomorrow, chess competitions for boys and girls aged 8 to 18 will begin in Shenzhen, China, at the Asian Championship. These tournaments will cover age categories of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 years old.

Uzbekistan's Participation in the Championship

This evening, the Uzbekistan Chess Federation announced that representatives from the country will defend the honor of their homeland at this continental championship. In total, 21 young chess players are scheduled to participate under the flag of Uzbekistan as part of the 28th edition of this championship.

Scale of the Competitions

Although applications for participation have been submitted by over 900 athletes from 31 countries, the largest number of participants is expected from countries such as China, India, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

Tournament Format

It was also reported that within the Asian Championship, rapid competitions across 7 formats will take place on July 16, and blitz games, including 9 tournaments, will be held on July 24.

Currently, the 'Women's Speed Chess Championship 2026' chess tournament is being held in an online format among women. The strongest female chess players from around the world are participating in this competition.

Tournament and Games

In the 1/16 finals of this tournament, which has a total prize fund of 75 thousand US dollars, Afruza Hamdamova tested her strength against Bibisara Assaubaeva, a two-time world champion from Kazakhstan.

According to the competition rules, the matches are held in a direct playoff system with 3 time controls.

Final Results

In the first two games between Afruza Hamdamova and Bibisara Assaubaeva, both sides chose the path of mutual respect. However, in the matches consisting of 14 games, the Kazakh B. Assaubaeva achieved superiority with a score of 10.5:3.5.
