A new major project has begun in the Syrdarya province aimed at developing the digital economy and attracting high-tech investments. The creation of a modern Green Data Center is planned, which will serve as an energy-saving data center, with the participation of the Malaysian company Basis Bay in the city of Shirin.
In this regard, the Governor of Syrdarya province, Erkinjon Turdimov, held a meeting with a delegation led by Goh Eng Hui, Executive Director of Basis Bay from Malaysia. During the negotiations, prospects for project implementation, attraction of foreign investment, development of digital infrastructure, and expansion of high value-added services in the field of information technology were discussed.
The parties reviewed the possibilities of creating a Center for Central Asia in the city of Shirin. Furthermore, a comprehensive exchange of views was conducted regarding the organizational and technical aspects of the project, including engineering and communication networks, power supply, and the potential of existing infrastructure.
After this, the Malaysian delegation visited the city of Shirin to familiarize themselves with the territory proposed for the project's implementation. The Mayor of the city, Dilfuza Kambarov, the Governor's advisor on digitalization and artificial intelligence, Oibek Anvarov, and relevant specialists provided investors with detailed information about the region's infrastructure, energy potential, and investment climate.
Investors highly appreciated the available opportunities of the territory and expressed significant interest in implementing the project. They also stated their readiness to continue cooperation to bring the project to a practical stage in the near future.
According to experts, launching this Green Data Center will allow for the expansion of the range of modern digital services, increase the export of high value-added services in the field of information technology, create new highly qualified jobs, and enhance the investment attractiveness of Syrdarya province.
A large-scale investment project aimed at advancing agriculture and the textile industry to a new level is being implemented in the Bukhara province. This step is expected to be an important contribution to revitalizing the desert territories, creating thousands of new jobs, increasing export potential, and widely implementing modern agricultural technologies.
In this regard, the Governor of Bukhara Province, Botir Zaripov, received a delegation led by Wang Xuntou, a representative of one of the major Chinese industrial companies, 'Lihua Group' in Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail issues of expanding cooperation, achieving high efficiency in agriculture, and actively implementing investment projects.
According to the project plan, 20 thousand hectares of land are planned to be acquired in Shofirkon district and 9 thousand hectares in Romitan district. A modern agro-industrial cluster will be created on these territories, covering the entire production cycle—from cotton cultivation to the production and processing of finished textile products.
Currently, the Chinese investors have established the limited liability company 'Zhemchuzhina Romitan,' and work on developing the 'Varakhsha' desert area in Romitan district is progressing rapidly. At the initial stage of the investment project, special attention is paid to infrastructure formation, bringing lands into agricultural circulation, and installing modern irrigation systems.
This year, cotton of the 'Xin Lu Zao-57' variety, which is part of Chinese breeding, has been planted in this area, and advanced agricultural technologies based on Shenzhen's experience are being used. In particular, methods of growing under film, water-saving technologies, and innovative agrotechnical approaches that promote increased yield, rational use of water resources, and improved product quality are being tested.
During the discussions, specific measures were defined for the timely and effective implementation of the project, and existing organizational issues were resolved. The parties reached mutually beneficial agreements regarding further expansion of partnership, increasing the volume of investments, and the widespread introduction of modern technologies into Bukhara's agriculture.
This project is viewed not just as an investment but as a strategic initiative designed to transform the deserts of Bukhara into fertile lands, form a modern agro-industrial ecosystem, and give a new impetus to the regional economy. Most significant is the expectation of creating stable jobs for hundreds and even thousands of residents through the production of high value-added products and the expansion of exports. This will be a prime example of investment cooperation and industrial development in New Uzbekistan.
As part of cooperation with interested organizations, the Branch of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for the Salvation of the Aral Sea in Nukus is implementing large-scale innovative projects for farms. These projects involve equipping them with irrigation systems powered by solar panels, which serves the interests of the local population.
The main goal of these initiatives is to find innovative solutions to problems related to water and energy shortages in the Aral Sea region. The projects aim to improve the meliorative condition of agricultural lands and introduce modern and environmentally friendly technologies into the industry.
Furthermore, they help reduce electricity costs by using renewable energy sources amid climate change and water scarcity in the Aral Sea region, contributing to increased crop yields and strengthening the economic stability of farms.
Specifically, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), a project was launched at the 'Borili Oy' farm in the Kegeyli district. This project, funded by a grant of 70 thousand US dollars, includes water supply systems through the purification of collector waters and irrigation using alternative energy over an area of 5 hectares for growing fodder and fruits.
On one hectare of the farm, fruit trees adapted to the local climate have been planted, and all agrotechnical measures have been carried out to increase their productivity. Since water scarcity usually reduces soil fertility, the use of drip irrigation technology powered by solar panels allows for water saving and regular supply, which contributes to improved yields.
As part of this project, a drip irrigation system with a capacity of 15 kW, operating on solar panels, was installed at the farm. Ponds were also built for intensive Artemia aquaculture, where Artemia larvae serve as feed for fish.
The implementation of such a large project in remote rural areas under conditions of water scarcity not only improves land fertility but also creates new jobs. This initiative, implemented with the help of UNDP and the Branch of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for the Salvation of the Aral Sea in Nukus, promotes the production of environmentally friendly products.
Additionally, a 'green energy' project was implemented at the 'Orzu' farm, located in the settlement of 'Zhanabazar' in the Kegeyli district. The Branch of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for the Salvation of the Aral Sea in Nukus installed a modern solar panel with a capacity of 50 kilowatts on this farm. As a result, the irrigation system powered by the solar panel became capable of irrigating an area of 175 hectares.
According to the head of the farm, Palzady Salieva, due to the water shortage problem in recent years, most of the farm's arable land has become unusable, negatively affecting fertility. Last year, the yield of cotton and wheat significantly decreased due to water deficit. Now, the solar-powered system ensures constant operation of pumps. The ability to irrigate using solar panels helps not only the farm itself but also supplies water to the water supply systems of 33 households in the district. Land fertility is also improving, and most importantly, farmers gain confidence and hope for the future.
In addition, the Branch of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for the Salvation of the Aral Sea in Nukus provided practical assistance in preserving plantings along the roads passing through the 'Qoraqalpoq Yol Kukalamzorishtirish' district, as well as in installing water-saving irrigation systems in areas not reached by surface water runoff.
Polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 110 mm and a length of 3000 meters were delivered along the D234 (4R176) 'Nukus-Chimboi-Takhtaqupir' road in the Kegeyli district, as well as 200 mm diameter pipes with a length of 1603 meters along the A-380 'Guzor-Bukhara-Nukus-Beyneu' road in the Khodjali district.
The projects carried out by the Branch of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for the Salvation of the Aral Sea in Nukus serve to improve the environmental situation in the region, support afforestation efforts, provide the population with accessible and quality products, and, most importantly, create employment for citizens.

During a recent operational event, law enforcement officers detained an employee of the Investment and Foreign Trade Department of the Zhizkh region. The detention occurred while he was receiving the remaining 900 US dollars out of the required 1000 US dollars for the allocation of a land plot.
According to preliminary information, this amount was demanded in exchange for a promise to assist in allocating land for an elite commercial and industrial object, utilizing connections within the power system.

The adopted legal documents are aimed at further strengthening the principles of honesty, openness, and accountability in public service. In particular, the Presidential Decree adopted on April 21, 2025, 'On Measures for the Effective Organization of Priority Tasks for Improving the Anti-Corruption System,' aims to strengthen preventive measures, introduce effective mechanisms to counteract the use of official powers for personal gain, and form an absolutely zero-tolerance environment for corruption.
